Another Successful Year For Our Early Years Conference | |

The excitement was contagious on March 15th and 16th, as the Early Education department of the San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) hosted the 21st Annual Early Years conference, spotlighting the crucial role of diversity, equity, and inclusion in early learning and care.
A vibrant crowd of over 1200 attendees, representing diverse sectors of early care and education, converged for two days of dynamic workshops and networking at the Town & Country Resort. Dr. Angela Bass, the powerhouse Deputy Superintendent for the Learning and Leadership division of SDCOE, kicked off the festivities with electrifying opening remarks. Following suit, Dr. Kathleen Van Antwerp, Senta Greene, and Dr. Talisa Sullivan delivered a keynote address that ignited inspiration and motivation among participants.
Attendees delved into over 40 specialized sessions, brimming with innovative strategies for fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in early education. From spirited discussions to insightful exchanges, the conference was a hub of collaboration and learning.
Adding to the excitement, attendees walked away with conference commemorative tote bags and eagerly participated in raffles, vying for prize packages filled with books and classroom materials.

Otro Año Exitoso para Nuestra Conferencia de Early Years | |

El entusiasmo fue contagioso los días 15 y 16 de marzo, cuando el departamento de Educación Temprana de la Oficina de Educación del Condado de San Diego (SDCOE, por sus siglas en inglés) organizó la 21ª Conferencia Anual Early Years, destacando el papel crucial de la diversidad, equidad e inclusión en el aprendizaje temprano y el cuidado infantil.
Una vibrante multitud de más de 1200 asistentes, representando diversos sectores del cuidado y la educación temprana, se reunieron durante dos días de talleres dinámicos y networking en el Town & Country Resort. La Dra. Angela Bass, la poderosa Superintendente Adjunta de la división de Aprendizaje y Liderazgo de SDCOE, dio inicio a las festividades con sus electrizantes palabras de apertura. SDQPI Early Childhood Directors' May Meetings | |

The San Diego County Office of Education invites agency Directors to attend our last set of Early Education Directors' Meetings to support agencies participating in the San Diego Quality Preschool Initiative (SDQPI) and those holding CSPP/CCTR contracts.
These meetings are meant for agency Directors only. We encourage the contract contact from your agency to attend; one person is allowed with a two-person maximum. Plan on attending one of the May meeting options. Please register for which meeting you will be attending using registration links.
Spring Meeting Options

Meeting option #1 is in-person and presented in English:

Retention Stipend Deadline is April 15 | |

Thanks to a partnership with the San Diego County’s Health and Human Services Agency, we are offering a retention stipend for eligible child care providers in San Diego County.
Eligibility criteria includes:
- Reside in San Diego County
- Continuous nine month employment in child care industry, directly working with children
- Participate in the completion of a professional development/growth plan
- Completion of all required tasks
Applications must be submitted through the Workforce Registry. Click here for informational flyer to share. The deadline to apply is Apr. 15.

Early Childhood Inclusive Practices Cohorts | |
|
The Early Childhood Inclusive Practices Certificate was designed and built by experts in the field to prepare early learning and care professionals working in centers, family child care, and special education programs to address the complexities of caring for and educating young children with a variety of physical, learning, and social needs, including those children with disabilities.
Participants will increase their awareness and understanding of individualized learning, simple adaptations, behavioral strategies, and methods of communication. In addition, participants will learn about available resources, strategies, and supports that will enhance the quality care and responsiveness to all children in their setting. Participants can purchase three USD credits for $237 after the course is completed.
Additionally, the certificate course meets the following Inclusive Early Education and Expansion Program (IEEEP) required trainings: Supporting Inclusive Practices, Adaptations and Accommodations, Universal Design for Learning, and Behavior, and the use of Positive Behavior Supports.
