A message from your District Administrator

Dear School District of Wisconsin Dells Community Members,

Please take a moment to review this month’s edition of our e-newsletter. District officials have put together various articles to keep our district’s constituents up-to-date on a variety of topics at all levels of our schools. If you need additional information, please do not hesitate to reach out. Thank you!

Dear School District of Wisconsin Dells Community Members,

I know it sounds cliché, but the 2024-25 school year is flying by, and it is hard to believe I am writing this December newsletter. The first three months of the academic school year have been hectic, and as we look ahead to December and early January, the same will remain. December will also remain a busy month due to the month being compressed with the winter break. Specifically, winter break will begin at the end of a full school day on Friday, December 20, 2024, and classes will resume on Tuesday, January 2, 2025. Before winter break begins, it's vital to encourage all students to demonstrate excellent attendance patterns.

Over the winter break, WDHS will be hosting a boys' and girls' basketball tournament, with games scheduled for Friday, December 27th, and Saturday, December 28th. The RWD Hockey team will also play in the annual Monks Cheeseburger Classic Tournament at Poppy Waterman Arena in Lake Delton. I encourage you to attend a future game!

As a reminder, inclement weather will likely occur in December, and the district will utilize the following four methods as our primary ways of communicating with the public.  The first will be the school messenger service. Parents and guardians will receive a phone call at the number you have provided to the district within the Skyward student management system. The other media sources are the district's Facebook page and WISC-TV 3, which are the district's earliest contacts. If the district deems it necessary to release students from school early because of inclement weather and you have elementary-age children, please ensure that we have your alternative daycare arrangements in advance and on file at one of the elementary offices. This will significantly assist the office staff, the classroom teachers, and aides in ensuring that your children are on the correct bus or for any alternative pre-approved arrangements. ...READ MORE

Sugar's Impact on One's Immune System

By: Allison Hoch, Principal of WDHS

Halloween candy, Thanksgiving pies, Christmas cookies, Starbucks drinks– a holiday season filled with festivities and sugary treats! Do you know how sugar impacts your and your students’ immune systems? We definitely see an uptick in illnesses in November and December. We want our students in school every day because there is no 100% substitute for in-classroom learning and discussion; however, we realize sick days are sometimes necessary for students and staff throughout the year. One thing to focus on during this season is you and your family’s nutrition because it has a direct impact on your immune system. ....READ MORE

The Importance of Sleep Routines During Breaks

By: Julie Ennis, Spring Hill Elementary Principal

As we approach a well-deserved school break, we know it’s an exciting time filled with opportunities to relax, spend quality time with family, and enjoy a more flexible schedule. However, one aspect of your child’s daily routine that shouldn’t take a vacation is their sleep!

Maintaining consistent sleep routines during breaks is crucial for your child’s well-being and success when they return to school. Here’s why:...READ MORE
