COVID-19 Update

The SDYS offices have re-closed due to COVID-19. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept cash payments at this time. Staff will continue to work from home and are available via email and phone.

Please stay tuned for an email from SDYS next week notifying registered families about our Fall 2020 plans. Please visit for any new information.


Ensemble placements, tuition assistance notifications, reopening plans, and necessary safety precautions for the 2020-2021 season have already gone out.

If you did not receive your placement email, please log onto and check your spam folder. If you still cannot find it, please email immediately. If you decide not to accept the offer of placement, please email the conservatory team indicating your decision. Placement decisions are final and cannot be changed.

August Auditions for NEW Students

Even though registration for the 2020-2021 season has closed for all returning students, registration is still open for students who are NEW to SDYS, now through July 23.

Social Advocates for Youth (SAY) San Diego Community Assessment Team

SAY San Diego is able to assist with the following FREE services:

  • Case management
  • School Advocacy
  • Youth and Family Counseling
  • Educational Groups
  • Substance Abuse counseling
  • Tutoring
  • Anger Management
  • Family Support/Parent Education
  • Mini-grants: Assistance with Basic Needs (rent, food, clothes, transportation, supplies, program enrollment fees, etc)
Services offered are short term, strengths–based and take place virtually from your own home.

Eligibility Requirements
  • Children and youth must be 6-18 years of age
  • Participants must have a San Diego zip code

YOLA National at Home

YOLA National at Home offers courses, content, and project-based learning opportunities for youth and adults alike. Students, educators, artists, and in some cases, all music lovers, will find relevancy in these curated broadcast and interactive experiences held over Zoom and YouTube Live.

Vanderbilt Virtual Visit Opportunities

In lieu of in-person campus visits, Vanderbilt welcomes you to register for a Virtual Blair School of Music Information Session. These sessions will provide the same comprehensive Info Session material that would be presented during a Blair Tour, and will be led by one of our Blair Admissions representatives.
