Post Audition Information

Now that you have finished your 2020-2021 audition, here is what to expect next:

On Thursday, July 2, ensemble placements and tuition assistance notifications will go out via email. Please do not contact the office regarding your placement before you receive the email. Details about SDYS' reopening plan and necessary safety precautions for the 2020-2021 season will be included with placement information.

If you have not applied for tuition assistance and would like to, please apply here or email Cecilia at cvega@sdys.org.

August Auditions for NEW Students

Even though registration for the 2020-2021 season has closed for all returning students, registration is still open for students who are NEW to SDYS, now through July 23.

Ms. Reiner's Poway Symphonette, Bernardo Heights Middle School, and Twin Peaks Middle School, have just received finalist status in The American Prize divisions for conducting and high school performance. Kudos, Ms. Reiner and students!

  • Circle Map by Kaija Saariaho premiered in Gashouder, Amsterdam on June 22, 2012.
  • On June 25, 1910, Igor Stravinsky's The Firebird preimiered in Paris, France.
  • Symphony No. 9 by Gustav Mahler premiered on June 26, 1912. Exactly fourteen year later in 1926, Sinfonietta by Leoš Janáček premiered.
SDYS Youth Leadership Council

The SDYS Youth Leadership Council is a youth-led group of SDYS musicians who want to get more involved, connect with other SDYS musicians, and contribute positively to the future of SDYS.

Participants must have parent/guardian permission to join.

Students will be joining a BAND.us group, monitored by SDYS staff at all times. Invitations will be sent directly to student's email following submission of this form:
