The topics are "How to Practice" and "How to select a teacher," which will include tips on how to plan for practice sessions at home effectively.  How much time per day?  When to practice?  Selecting a teacher can  be a daunting process.  How do I know who's a good teacher?  How much do they charge?  Should we ask for a trial lesson?

Mr. Kim served as Music Director of the Michigan Pops Orchestra and holds both a Bachelor and Master of Music in Piano Performance from UC Santa Barbara, and a Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting from University of Michigan.
As a faculty performance, Dr. Yin and Mr. Kim will also be performing on piano-four hands, Dolly Suite, Op. 56, by Gabriel Fauré.

New Parent Portal
Welcome to the new Parent Portal!

By now, every parent should have received a welcome email to access our new Parent Portal on our brand new Student Management System (SMS). After following the confirmation steps, parents are able to login, and see pertinent information about their musician.  On the portal you have access to the Musicians' Handbooks and season calendars, reporting lost music, and from here you can report all of your musician's absences. If you have not received a welcome email, please email Conservatory Program Coordinator Kyle Henning at khenning@sdys.org.

Reporting an Absence
The SMS will keep track of the number of absences reported, and the number of absences accrued.  Every time an absence is reported, the SMS will email the family a confirmation.  This confirmation will let you know how many absences you have reported this concert period, how many absences you have accrued this concert period, and how many allowable absence the student has this concert period.   Reported absences do not count towards accrued absences.

After a student is physically absent from rehearsal, the SMS will email out an absence email detailing the number of absences accrued, and the total number of allowable absences.
Remind Text Message Service
