There are a number of different features that are available in AACE software allowing for automatic calculations. One such useful option is utilizing data fields. Data fields are simple mathematical operations such as dilution (multiplication) and weight (division). Dilution and weight are both pre-programmed data fields that can be adjusted per sample. AACE then calculates out the final result using these fields. These data fields can also be used to include additional information about the sample such as pH.
To add the the data fields, navigate to your analysis or run file (Set-up - Analysis/Run). On the main page, select Virtual Channels. Under Data Fields select Change. This will open a new window. Select Yes to activate the specific data field. Decimals, units, and additional information can also be added. To allow for text to be typed, tick the box under Text. There will now be additional columns listed under the Tray Protocol.
The data fields like sample IDs can be imported via an outside file. These data fields can then be used for more complicated calculations using a virtual channel.
