SEAOC Responds to Governor's Executive Order N-4-25

re. Rebuilding from Southern California Fires

In response to Governor Newsom's call for timely rebuilding within Southern California's devastated fire regions, an ad-hoc work group of SEAOSC and SEAOC representatives spearheaded by SEAOSC President Garrett Mills drafted a statement urging that the seismic safety standards not be compromised as the State and local jurisdictions seek ways to streamline the permitting process.

SEAOC 2025 SE Pathways Application Coming Soon

Structural Engineers Association of California (SEAOC) is pleased to present an opportunity for structural engineering students and early-career professionals to participate in the Fourth SE Pathways Cohort kicking off at the 2025 SEAOC Convention in San Diego, Sept. 3-5.

With activities during the convention and throughout the following year the Pathways Program provides opportunities for aspiring or new engineers to network with colleagues and practicing professionals throughout the state of California; learn key issues impacting the SE profession, including the need to improve workforce equity and diversity; and meet trade representatives who may assist them in future practice. Most importantly, cohort members will help shape the future of Structural Engineering in California.

SEAOC encourages interested Structural Engineering Students and Early Career Professionals, especially individuals belonging to groups traditionally underrepresented in the profession, to fill out the SEAOC Pathways Interest Form to join the mailing list to hear more about the 2025 SE Pathways Cohort as soon as new information comes out.

APPLICATIONS WILL OPEN IN FEBRUARY FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE A PART OF THE 2025 SE PATHWAYS COHORT.

To learn more about the benefits of being part of the 2025 SE Pathways Cohort, visit the SEAOC Pathways Application Page. To become one of this year’s valued SE Pathways sponsors, please visit the SEAOC SE Pathways Sponsorship Page.

NCEES is seeking licensed structural engineers to participate in a professional activities and knowledge study, or PAKS, for the PE Structural exam. The results of this online survey will be used to update the content of the exam, a process that occurs every six to eight years. NCEES requires a cross section of licensed professional engineers practicing structural engineering—including those working in industry, consulting, the public sector, and academia—to complete the survey.

If you are a licensed professional engineer, we would appreciate your input. The survey can be completed in about 50–60 minutes. Click here for access to the online survey: ncees.org/STRPAKS

The survey will be open until March 10, 2025. Please help us spread the word about this important study by sharing this email with any colleagues who are licensed structural engineers. NCEES sincerely thanks you for your contribution to ensure that the PE Structural exam is reflective of the current practice of P.E.s. For more information, contact NCEES Exam Development Engineer Sonya Dawson, P.E., at sdawson@ncees.org.
