The 2026 Structural Engineering Summit is coming to San Francisco, and NCSEA is seeking session proposals! Education sessions should deliver practical, relevant, and actionable insight for practicing structural engineers across technical and non-technical tracks. Abstracts are due April 3.

Global Disaster Risk Leader to Deliver Shah Family Distinguished Lecture at Stanford

Join Kamal Kishore, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction, for a timely lecture on today’s increasingly complex disaster landscape and the actions needed to build collective resilience.

The Shah Family Distinguished Lecture, “Disaster Risk in the 21st Century: Towards a Resilient Future,” will take place on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 12 p.m. in Bishop Auditorium, Lathrop Library at Stanford University, followed by a lunch reception.

Mark your calendar for SEAONC’s annual Awards celebration, taking place Tuesday, May 12 at the San Francisco War Memorial & Performing Arts Center. Corporate Member Benefit Reminder: Complimentary Registrations Expire in April

SEAONC Corporate Members are reminded that complimentary event registrations must be used by the end of April 2026, aligning with the final monthly meeting of the current cycle.

These registrations can be applied toward SEAONC monthly meetings and continuing education programs. Please note that they cannot be used for the SEE Awards or the Annual Business Meeting (ABM) in June.

If you have unused registrations, be sure to take advantage of them before they expire.

Membership Renewal Notices Are on the Way—Check Your Email

SEAONC member renewal notices are currently being sent via email, so keep an eye out for your personalized renewal form. All memberships expire July 1, 2026, so be sure to complete your renewal on time to maintain uninterrupted benefits. As always, we appreciate your membership and participation!

Yosemite Weekend

This March, a group from SEAONC's Young Members Forum escaped to Yosemite for a weekend full of hiking, breathtaking scenery, and lovely conversations. Thank you to everyone who joined and helped make the trip so special!

Night at the Museum

SEAONC is marking the 120th anniversary of the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake. Come join YMF at the Cal Academy of Science for a night at the museum, and try out the earthquake simulator!

CEMEX presentation at April Monthly Meeting: April 7, 12-1 p.m. on Teams 

For this month’s SDC meeting, we will be joined by Hernan Perez from CEMEX, a leading ready-mix concrete supplier. Our committee is looking forward to a broader discussion spanning both Northern and Southern California markets and is excited to have opened this meeting to our colleagues in the SEAOSC chapter.

Hernan will provide an overview of CEMEX’s operations across California, including their CO₂ reduction commitments and broader sustainability goals. He’ll also share insights on supplying low-carbon concrete, along with practical guidance for designers, including specification strategies and alternatives to traditional cement and aggregates.

SE3: Panel Explores Accessibility in AEC

The SEAONC SE3 Committee will host a virtual panel, "Disabled Professionals in AEC," focused on lived experiences in the architecture, engineering, and construction industry—and how firms can build more accessible teams.

• 1906 Earthquake Commemoration Crawl | Saturday, April 18: SEAONC is collaborating together to put on a public event in honor of the 120th anniversary of the 1906 earthquake by visiting landmarks, restaurants and bars that survived the tragedy and are still around. It will be a fun day of history, community and good times. All are invited - bring friends, family, anyone and RSVP here!
• Classroom activities: We’re continuing to volunteer at several high schools with MOLA model activities and more, please see all the events that are happening here and sign up!
