STA files letter on proliferation of strikes in option markets
STA feels it imperative to relay its view that the proliferation of series of options for quoting and trading (“strikes”, or “strike prices”) has overly complicated the options markets and necessitated excessive (and thus inefficient) consummations of technology. If left unabated, this condition may degrade market quality as measured by spreads; liquidity - both displayed and total available per strike.

Competing against the rise of blogs, alternative financial online news and just about anyone with a mobile device and Twitter handle, the job of today’s financial journalist is challenging, especially for women in what is still a male dominated industry.
The STA WIF Committee is thrilled that Bloomberg's Annie Massa has accepted being the recipient of this inaugural award and we look forward to presenting it to her at our 3

What would Denzel do?
It’s a question often asked, “If Hollywood made a movie about your life, what actor or actress would you want to play you?” For me the answer is simple, Denzel Washington. An extraordinary actor with a cool disposition both on and off camera. Denzel doesn’t know this, but we share a common bond. We both attended Fordham University in the Bronx around the same time. It was through this network that I would hear of Denzel’s acts of generosity that would go largely unnoticed in the public eye.

According to Jim Toes, Chief Executive Officer of the Security Traders Association, this isn’t the first time the equity trading our industry has faced this issue, and while details have yet to unfold, a proposed FTT will most likely espouse the perceived attributes of past versions.
