Happy Labor Day!!
Register now for the 2021 Southeast Conference Annual Meeting Mask-querade!
After careful consideration and consultation with the community of Haines, their emergency operations center, and the Southeast Conference Board of Directors, it has been determined that the best and safest way to proceed with an in-person event is to expect all attendees be fully vaccinated or have a negative COVID-19 test results within 72 hours of arriving in Haines. Even vaccinated attendees could go the extra mile and get tested. We will follow up next week with our approved mitigation plan for this event.

We appreciate your understanding and support as we all continue to navigate the everchanging COVID-19 response landscape. And we very much look forward to seeing you in person... with a mask!

Lets do all that we can to keep Haines and Southeast Strong!
Annual Meeting (Draft) Agenda
The final pieces are coming together, rounding out this year's Annual Meeting Agenda! We are excited to present an all-star line up of speakers and topics that we know you won't want to miss!
Annual Meeting Travel Update
The M/V Le Conte departs Juneau at 2pm on Monday, Sept. 13th, scheduled to arrive in Haines at 6:30pm. There are two inbound flights, scheduled to arrive in Juneau about an hour prior to the ferry departure. Southeast Conference is arranging a shuttle between the airport and the ferry terminal for all attendees with a tight connection. If you flying into Juneau on Alaska Airlines flights 64 ( from Anchorage) or 65 (from Seattle, Ketchikan, etc.) on Sept. 13, please let us know (office@seconference.org) so we can be sure to have a large enough shuttle.

Also, if you are headed to the annual meeting from Juneau, consider bringing your car on the ferry to Haines!
Day Two Spotlightlight:

Kelp Blue Co-Founder, Caroline Slootweg
Caroline Slootweg is a start-up, change management and digital transformation specialist. She has worked at Unilever, WPP, in mar-tech and agri-tech. Her purity of purpose expresses itself as clarity, simplicity and speed. Caroline sailed half-way around the world and across the Pacific Ocean in the Clipper Round the World yacht race and is also a keen forager and traveler.

Most recently, Slootweg co-founded Kelp Blue, believing that one solution to restoring equilibrium to the plant is through growing and managing large-scale Giant kelp forests. Currently, Kelp Blue is cultivating such a kelp forest (macrocystis) in exposed waters in Namibia. They are hoping to identify a location in the region for a second operation. Kelp Blue will be harvesting the canopy and creating biostimulants for the agricultural sector
Virtual Streaming Available
With so much uncertainty regarding the everchanging COVID-19 landscape, Southeast Conference wants to make attendance possible for those who don't feel comfortable or are unable to come to Haines in person. We are offering a virtual attendance option and will be live-streaming the conference via zoom. Please visit our registration page and select "3 Day Virtual Pass" to register.
Calling All UAS Supporters!
Since 1992, Southeast Conference has partnered with UAS to offer a scholarship program that supports residents of the region. Scholarship funds have been raised through an auction that is generously supported by individuals and businesses throughout Southeast and conducted each year at the Annual Membership Meeting. We are actively seeking auction items. If you are able to contribute, please let us know. Thank you in advance for helping make this event a success!
