Vote Bayfield Burgers for Wisconsin's Best Burger Contest

The Wisconsin Beef Council is accepting nominations for the third annual Wisconsin's Best Burger Contest!


Think Bayfield is too small? Think again! The Iron Horse Saloon in Hurley was part of the Elite Eight in 2025!


Whether you’re a restaurant owner ready to showcase your best burger or a consumer eager to nominate your favorite burger joint, learn how to get involved in this milestone celebration below.  


Restaurants receiving the most nominations through March 15 will be named to the Elite Eight and will be eligible for the secret taste-test by contest judges. 


The 2026 Best Burger in Wisconsin will be announced on April 24, kicking off May Beef Month.


To qualify for the title of Wisconsin's Best Burger, the burger must be a 100% real beef patty and served on a bun or bread product.

Bayfield Head Start Preschool is now accepting applications for income-eligible children ages 3–5 for the 2026–2027 school year — and enrollment numbers are critical. Without enough families enrolling, Bayfield Head Start is at risk of closing.


As the sole child care provider in the City of Bayfield, this center-based program is a vital resource for local families. Head Start offers play-based learning, daily outdoor time, enriching field trips, and a nurturing environment that prepares children for school success.


Bayfield Head Start also provides a 4K community-based program through the Bayfield School District, blended with 3K children. The program is offered at no cost to qualifying families and operates as a licensed child care facility. The extended day runs 7 hours and 45 minutes, including breakfast, lunch, and a snack. Families who qualify for SNAP automatically qualify for enrollment.


The application deadline is March 16, 2026. If you or someone you know has an eligible child, please apply and help spread the word to keep this essential program in our community.
