The Southern Economic Development Council, North America’s oldest & largest regional economic development association, has launched a new member-to-member communications website. “SEDC Community” is designed for SEDC’s membership to share ideas and best practices, explore opportunities, celebrate successes, and to crowdsource solutions for challenges. SEDC Community is private and available only to the Council’s growing membership of economy builders and business decision-makers. Within SEDC Community, members may share content on a general “all SEDC” page or within their specific state delegation forums. Think of SEDC Community as a social media-style site and message board only for economic developers!

How Do I Access SEDC Community?

To access SEDC Community, complete the following steps:

  • Go to www.SEDC.org and log in with your user information.
  • Pull down the Membership Tab and select SEDC Community.
  • Make your first post on SEDC Community!


What should I post on SEDC Community?

On SEDC Community are the world’s best and most successful economic developers. What would you like them to know? Below are a few ideas for effective posting:

  • Introduce yourself, your organization, your community, region, etc.
  • Crowdsource solutions and/or best practices for your current challenges.
  • Share your community, region, and/or state project wins!
  • Share your organization’s successes.
  • Share educational tips, strategies, and/or best practices.
  • Let us know about upcoming activities and events.
  • Ask questions, share opportunities, get creative, and have fun! 


Is SEDC Community private?

Yes, only SEDC members can view your posts.


Does SEDC Community have State-Specific Sub-Groups?

Sure! SEDC Community includes sub-groups, allowing you to post content exclusively for your state delegation. Members of your state will have access to your state’s sub-group. There are also sub-groups for the SEDC Board, Committees, and more.


Will SEDC Staff be Active on SEDC Community?

Occasionally, staff may engage to present member-submitted questions for crowdsourcing, highlight members’ good news, share educational resources, provide links to free training, or offer major updates. SEDC Community primarily stands for member-to-member communication; therefore, SEDC staff will be minimally active but will monitor posted content to ensure appropriateness.
