How long have you been in economic development?

31 years

How did you get started in economic development?

Took a course in real estate law as an undergraduate at the University of Illinois in 1992. This led me to a master's degree in urban planning, emphasizing economic development and fiscal packaging. My first job was in a related field.

How has being a member of SEDC benefited you?

We are connecting to professionals in the industry and providing insights into the latest trends and public policy influencing our work.

What project from your organization is most memorable to you?

The largest capital project in the State of Mississippi's history - Aluminum Dynamics - $2B in CapEx and 1,000 jobs at an average wage of over $100K. Working with rural areas in MS to introduce them to economic development practices and concepts so they can begin the development process.

What is something you/your organization has accomplished that you are most proud of?

Implementation of a consolidated and streamlined incentive program called MFLEX that allows for broader participation by both new and existing businesses who invest in MS.

Where is your favorite spot in your community and why?

Too many to name! Mississippi is a fantastic place to live, work, play, worship, and to build a life.

Read. Run long-distance races. Roman Catholic liturgiology and service as an acolyte. Visit grandkids!
