Child Care Aware employees celebrate one-year anniversaries

In November, we celebrated 10 employees’ one-year work anniversaries! Some staff on our Child Care Aware team were not new to their roles, but they have been part of the SEEC since it was awarded the Child Care Aware of ND grant in November 2021. We want to take this time to celebrate and show appreciation for the work they do.

Gov. Burgum's Shadow a Student Challenge

As part of ND Gov. Burgum’s “Shadow a Student Challenge,” ND Sen. Kyle Davison, District 41 (and SEEC's Executive Director!), visited Fargo's Discovery Middle School to shadow eighth grader, Maddie Glasheen.

Burgum issued the challenge to help legislators understand classroom education practices and school culture.

The tandem navigated a normal day in the life of a middle schooler including participating in lunch and choir class!

The day was enjoyed by both and Maddie added, “10 out of 10, would do it again!”

SEEC Innovation Fund Awards

The SEEC Innovation Fund is available to SEEC districts to use towards key initiatives or emerging needs.

Applications must focus on innovation and cannot supplant any current work or initiatives. The goal is to encourage growth, expansion, and capacity building within the district(s) in our region.

Six applications were approved for the 2022-23 school year. Read more about each of the Innovation Fund applications...

Final reports are due in the Spring and we can't wait to share the outcomes with you!

Health, Tech, and Trades Career Expo hosts 41 districts & 3,700+ Students

This year's Health, Tech & Trades Career Expo was nothing short of spectacular! The level of engagement each exhibitor brought to their booth space made it an event where every student could find a match to their passion or area of interest! We are happy to be an annual sponsor, an active steering committee member, and help organize the STEM sessions for schools bringing less than 30 students!

Opportunities were across the board from machine operating, power tools, and masonry, to firefighting, paramedics, and law enforcement, to robotics, mechanics, healthcare, and SO MUCH MORE!

Let's break it down in numbers really quick – because it really is amazing what can happen in just FIVE HOURS!

- 23 SEEC districts brought approximately 2,700 students.

- 3,760 total students

- 47 Schools (41 Districts) from the surrounding region

- 122 individual booths to visit

- 72 unique exhibitors

o 30+ different higher education departments

This is the chance to work with a team of "master teachers" from multiple schools to combine research-based strategies with implementation, feedback, and coaching. Building admins invite master teachers based on expertise, leadership abilities, and willingness to be observed and give/receive feedback.
