THE BEST Black Friday Event! What should you do with those pesky Thanksgiving guests sitting around your house? Take them to the movies!

Join us to see the remastered 1928 silent film comedy classic, "Speedy" starring Harold Lloyd, with live music by acclaimed film musicians Joanna Seaton, vocals & percussion, and Donald Sosin, composer & keyboards.

"Speedy," made in 1928, was Lloyd's final silent film to be released, & its director, Ted Wilde, was nominated for the first ever Academy Award for Best Director of a Comedy. The film was shot in Hollywood & on location in New York City, where Lloyd got the police to shut down traffic everywhere he filmed, resulting in wonderful film shots of NYC in 1928.

Harold "Speedy" Swift (Lloyd) is an avid NY Yankees fan who gets fired from his many jobs, for circumstances beyond his control. Through his mishaps we wind up at a real Yankees game where the real Babe Ruth gives Speedy a free ticket to the game. We will also lead a sing-along of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame."

Joanna Seaton and Donald Sosin are among the world's foremost silent film musicians, bringing their unique blend of keyboards, vocals, and percussion to film festivals worldwide, from Lincoln Center to Bangkok.

Interreligious encounters

Our EfM group is reading a book called “My Neighbor’s Faith, Stories of Interreligious Encounter.” From a section of the book, called “Redrawing our Maps,” we focused our reflection on the metaphor of a compass, and wrote the following collect:

God, our compass

We wait for your direction, to point us in the right way.

As a salmon seeks the scent of its home stream,

We also seek to find home anew.

In the name of Christ the mapmaker.

Amen

The Good Samaritan Fund

The Good Samaritan Fund was started by the churches of Sheffield as a way to help our neighbors in times of need. It is now managed and distributed by Construct on our behalf. The idea being that Construct can both vet those looking for help and use other resources at their disposal to multiply the help we give our neighbors.

We're inviting all of you to join us on the upcoming Giving Tuesday in helping to build up The Good Samaritan Fund with a generous donation. Giving Tuesday is the Tuesday following Thanksgiving. To make a donation, simply click the donation button below to be taken to a secure page.(Keep scrolling downward.) Alternatively, you can write a check to the church and put "Good Sam Fund" in the memo line and either put it in the plate on Sunday or mail it to the church office. Thank you for your generosity!

Sound Bath for Prayer and Meditation

January 6th at 4:30 at Christ Trinity

Hello Everyone

It’s me again and time for our annual Christ Trinity Christmas Bake Sale. Many of you have been incredibly supportive in the past and I hope you can find it in your hearts to rally again this year. We had a huge success last year and I hope we can do it again. We are going to have the online and in person bake sale again.

The in-person sale is Saturday December 9 from 10 AM to 2 PM. I'm reaching out and asking if you would contribute to this year’s in-person portion of the bake sale. Any of your favorite recipes, cookies, cakes, muffins, brownies, pies, toffee... .that you can bake for this year's sale would be greatly appreciated.

This year I have arranged to have volunteers who will wrap and package your baked goods for the Christmas Bake Sale. No need for you to fuss with the decorative packaging this year, unless you prefer to package your items yourself. If you decide to participate please let me know via email as soon as possible so I can purchase the necessary supplies to package the baked goods.

I’m asking that you deliver your baked goods to the parish hall on

Friday December 8th between 9 am and 12 noon. This will allow us to wrap, decorate and deliver the freshest possible products for the sale on Saturday December 9th.

I hope you will join in and help us have a fun and successful event, and I encourage you to invite your friends and family to shop online and in person on December 9th.

There is a great need to support our outreach organizations and this is a wonderful opportunity to do that and for us to come together as a congregation and a community. Great things happen when we gather together!

My sincerest thanks,

Joe Kolodziej

Empowering girls and women in Nepal

Empowering girls and women through Hands in Outreach, our Catherine Miller returns to Nepal this week to further strengthen an educational endeavor that she has sponsored for years. She has had a deep desire to get involved in a very personal way, especially to HIO mothers who support themselves as day laborers, earning very small wages. They become old before their time and the lack of formal education places them at a distinct disadvantage.

With a quilting project in mind, she hauled a large duffel with fifty pounds of colorful fabric and two pairs of scissors on her last trip to Kathmandu.

There is a beautiful article in the Hands in Outreach periodical written by Catherine describing her last adventure, and it is posted on our parish hall bulletin board.

You can also visit the website of this Sheffield, Massachusetts based non-profit at www.handsinoutreach.org

We wish Catherine a safe and fulfilling journey this week and can't wait to hear about her adventure when she returns in time for the Christmas Bake Sale.

Tango returns soon to our Parish Hall. Stay in touch.
