Randy will be remembered for his storytelling, singing, preaching, service, and most importantly his love for others.
One of our favorite sermons involved a large bag of heavy rocks, which Pastor Randy laboriously carried up to the altar and placed, one by one, atop the white altar cloth. It was an illustration of how our troubles and worries did not have to remain ours alone.
During worship, this Lutheran pastor would often do a powerful hands-on healing drawn straight from page 456 in The Episcopal Book of Common Prayer:
I lay my hands upon you in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, beseeching our Lord Jesus Christ to sustain you with his presence, to drive away all sickness of body and spirit, and to give you that victory of life and peace
which will enable you to serve him both now and evermore. Amen.
Pastor Randy's teachings had a lasting effect on so many of us.
