President's Update
The SEF Board is on the Move!
San Gabriel Educational Foundation is off to another exciting year!  I am grateful and delighted to have such a diverse group of individuals join the board and bring their unique talents, expertise and perspectives to the work of the foundation in order to further our mission.

I feel there are 10 Qualities of a Leader, and I am humbled and proud to be part of such an amazing group of volunteers who are passionate about the mission of SEF and want to make a difference in the lives of 5,000 students!

Passion: The fundamental essence of what motivates you. It is what drives you. It is what keeps you fighting in order to achieve your goals, even when things get tough.

Intuition: Our ability to understand something immediately without conscious reasoning. It gives us unique insight and foresight to help guide our decision making.

Focus: Requires that you do not allow anything to distract you from your goal.

Resilience: your ability to recover quickly from difficulties. It is our ability to
bounce back from challenges.

Self-Awareness: The conscious knowledge of one's own character, feelings, emotions, and desires. It is about knowing who you are. Knowing your strengths, your weaknesses, what motivates you, what you fear, how you engage with others, and how others perceive you.

Emotional Intelligence: The capacity to be aware of, control, and express one's emotions, and to handle interpersonal relationships judiciously and empathetically.

Consensus Building: Requires the ability to problem solve, establish agreement and common interest, and build collaboration toward an overall goal.

Positive Mindset: Having an optimistic outlook.

Follow Through: Demonstrates your commitment and dedication, it will lead you to accomplish your objective, and will earn you respect and credibility because of your ability to execute.

Circle of Friends:  Your friends who will uplift you, encourage you, give you direction, tell you what you NEED to hear not what you WANT to hear, and above all else support you.

These 10 Qualities of a Leader is what collectively make up the amazing SEF board and I am thrilled to announce the 2019-20 SEF Board to our community.

SEF Toast to the Future Gala
In May, we all gathered to celebrate student education at the "Toast to the Future" Gala held at the Hilton in San Gabriel. It was truly a delightful evening filled with an amazing group of talented student performers! When you let the student take center stage, that is when the true magic happens.

We hope that those who attended the event enjoyed the night as much as we all did. We would like to extend a sincere thank you to each and every one of you that made this event a success.

Summer Learning with SEF

It is hard to believe that the 2019 SEF Summer Academy program is almost behind us. The elementary and middle school programs are complete, and our high school program will finish up with the last day of classes being held this Friday, 7/12.

It has been a true pleasure for us to welcome each and every one of our students on each of the three campuses daily. We  would like to thank our teachers, volunteers, supporters, staff and administrators for all of the hard work in making this year's program successful and fun.  Students who participated in our program were enrolled in classes designed to inspire them to dream, learn and become more.  We have enjoyed watching them grow academically, creatively and artistically and wish them all the best during the upcoming academic year.
