We talk a lot about the importance of Thank you in nonprofit work. As our school year ends, let's remember to say Thank you. Let's thank our administrators, our teachers, our families, our community members, and our donors. And let me say Thank you to you. Thanks for joining with me as we journey together to impact 5000 lives of the SGUSD students.
I am fortunate to have the opportunity to see first-hand the impact the foundation makes in our community on a daily basis. Your contributions between now and the end of our fiscal year of June 30th will enable SEF to remain true to its mission.
This year alone, SEF has provided funding for academic initiatives for our schools, the most recent are the following:
- Provide access to the library after school and computer lab access for the students of Gabrielino High School
- Provide Naviance career and college counseling
- Training with award-winning authors and 5000+ books distributed districted wide
- Provide cooking and nutrition classes
- In support of the district's efforts financially to expand the music instruction program in the elementary schools to include all K-3 students
- Provide high quality after school Hip Hop Instructions and "Food For Thought - Young Chefs in the Kitchen"
- Provide dance and theater assemblies from the Music Center
- Field trip support
- Teacher Grants and more
I would like to invite each of you to continue to learn more about the foundation and how you can support our students. We have and will continue to make an impact through various programs across the school district.

Linda Boxer,
VP of
Events
Linda is parent of a Wilson Elementary student and has resided in San Gabriel Valley most of her life. She took an interest in SEF because her child enjoys the music program offered to students. Linda is an active volunteer in Wilson's PTA and classrooms. She comes to SEF with a background in corporate events and human resources in the investment banking industry. Past experiences of being an advocate for employees motivated her to support students within SGUSD.
Fun educational activities are Linda's passion for keeping students engaged in academics. It's important for children to be exposed to real life skills by learning music, art, theater, dance, cooking, sports, culture, and wellness. With the support of our community, our students' valued skills will prepare them to make meaningful decisions in our lifetime and the next.
