President's Update
Limited tickets still available!

I am looking forward to seeing so many of you at our "Toast to the Future" gala event in just a couple of weeks. Hopefully, you have already purchased your tickets and invited all of your close friends and family, and if not, you still have time!  We are anticipating a fantastic event this year as we welcome our featured student talent from Gabrielino High School choir and jazz band ensemble and Jefferson Middle School music performers, as well as renowned and awarding winning author Julie Berry doing a book presentation.  I know it will be a fun and beautiful night at the San Gabriel/Los Angeles Hilton on May 17th from 6-10pm. Our Gala Committee is working tirelessly to make this an evening to remember while benefiting our students, programs, and efforts. I look forward to an incredible evening, and hope to see you all there!

To help ensure success of the event, we invite each and every household in our community to participate in some way. There are many opportunities still available for you to get involved!
· Attend the event!! Buy your tickets or make your tax deductible donation online by clicking here.
· Donate an item!! We are still looking for items to be used in the silent auction. We could use your gift cards, household items, gift baskets, wine and so much more. Contact the SEF office for more information:(626) 451-5465

Together we make a difference in the lives of 5000 students!

Best,
Alison DeVriendt
President 2018-19

The SEF Summer Academy is a high quality program filled with exciting learning opportunities for youth in and around the community. Our fee-based program is a safe, fun and educational option for your child.

Our 1st-8th grade enrichment courses will expose students enrolled to new skills and ideas. They will work on computers, strengthen math and writing skills, make art, build robots, and much more.

The 9th-12th grade get-ahead courses & workshop at the high school are fast paced and challenging. Students benefit from proficient, in class instruction and are responsible for learning the same material that is presented during the school year. Successful students can be proud of the knowledge they obtain for their hard work.

NEW this year we are thrilled to offer an Extended Program from 12:30 - 2:30 for students in grades 1-5.

Registration is happening now. All classes are filled first come, first served (some classes are already full). Learn more about our program by visiting the SEF website at SEFfor8schools.org

Summer learning is fun, exciting and educational with SEF!

A big SEF thanks to everyone who is planning to participate in our gala. Also know that there are other ways to contribute to our mission of supporting education at all district campuses by supplementing public funds.

You can always offer a donation, of whatever amount you can afford, towards the reading, writing, even cooking and music programs offered by SEF.

SEF Board Member Profile
Justine Morales,
Board Member

I'm a Digital Media specialist at Brewer Direct, a marketing agency that specializes in Rescue Missions and Non-Profits. Joining the SEF board as the Parent Association Liaison Chair has proven to be one of the most satisfying ways I can give back to the community. My fellow board members never cease to amaze me with their work ethic and sincere passion for what we are all doing. Every time we fund a teacher's grant for school supplies or give out free books to excited kids I'm reminded why we put in the hours and financial support behind the scenes. I'm surrounded by people who just want to help and that inspires me to be my best out in the community.
I also volunteer monthly at the Union Station Homeless Services Adult Center. On Sunday nights, if I'm not at home picking on my overweight cat, Daisy, I'm out on the field playing intramural softball with my family.
