As the philanthropic partner to the school district, we actively forge partnerships and energetically develop community collaborations, grants, events and public awareness in support of student achievement through the backing of high quality education.

We are fortunate to live and work in an incredible community and our kids deserve the best possible education available. Our work for 2019/20 is not yet done...we are striving to increase community and family participation and need your help in reaching our goal. EVERY dollar counts...no amount is too small to donate...it ALL adds up! ALL the money raised directly benefits the students. From moms and dads to grandparents, neighbors and community business owners...everyone can join our cause! SEF Students Savor the Taste of Fall from Around the World!

SEF is delighted to provide cooking and nutrition education in the after school academy program at Jefferson Middle School. The class, now in its sixth year, has been designed as an enriching educational program that teaches the students how to make healthy food choices and how to prepare fresh meals and snacks using skills developed in class. Students have been learning the basic principles of safe cooking and healthy eating.

Recently, students "traveled" to Japan to prepare Nikujaga. Nikujaga, one of the most popular dishes in Japan, translates literally to "meat and potatoes", from the two main ingredients niku (meat) and jagaimo (potatoes). Students left the class with increased confidence in the kitchen and plate full of goodness!

A traditional Japanese dish stewed to perfection? We say YES!!
SEF Supports Recreational Reading for FUN!!

Through the years, SEF has been thrilled to provide author presentations that inspire student's creativity while supporting educational goals.  During the months of September, October and November, more than 1,000 grades K-2 San Gabriel Unified School District students will participate in a very special presentation with author Lynn Snowden. We excitedly kicked off the series at Roosevelt with approximately 170 students in attendance. The engaging presentation highlights Ms. Snowden's book, Maezie's Pumpkin Patch  and includes an activity packet for students to enjoy at home.

SEF hopes these presentations will create a lasting impression for the young students in our schools and excitedly support the joy and imagination of our youngest learners.
SEF 's Paint Night was Filled with Creativity and Fun!

Many thanks to all who attended and supported our recent Paint Night. Thank you to all of our business and community supporters, Dr. Chasity Jennings Nunez, the City of San Gabriel, El Pavo Bakery, Corner Bakery, Home Depot and Nothing Bundt Cakes, for helping to ensure the event was fabulous.  A big shout out to all of the artists...may you proudly hang your works of art for all to see.  The community coming together to generously support the foundation IS what makes us strong!
