Report: Learning from Surveys in CORE Districts
A report from FutureEd offers rich insights into what California’s CORE districts have learned from their annual surveys of students, teachers, and parents about nonacademic learning. Among the key takeaways: surveys don’t have to be part of accountability systems to be influential; most educators welcome the information, but many feel overwhelmed by the new data. Districts can help by providing educators and coaches with training and support.
Brief: SEL Frameworks in 14 States
A new brief from CASEL’s Collaborating States Initiative looks at the 14 states that have developed SEL standards. It examines how state frameworks define children's social-emotional development, address equity, and make connections to other strategic priorities, such as workforce readiness and mental health.
Tool: Self-Care Activities for Adults
These activities offer school staff a way to share their best practices for self-care, including: exercise, eating healthy, de-stressing, finding "me time". Developed by Chicago Public Schools and featured in the CASEL Guide to Schoolwide SEL, the activity engages colleagues as they.work to foster a supportive environment.
