FEDERAL GOVERNMENT MOVES TO TIGHTEN ELIGIBILITY REQUIRMENTS FOR FOOD STAMPS

YOU CAN HELP PROTECT
SNAP BENEFITS FOR MORE THAN 3.1 MILLION PEOPLE

TAKE ACTION TODAY!

According to an article published by the Associated Press, a bout 3.1 million people would lose food stamp benefits under the Trump administration’s proposal to tighten automatic eligibility requirements for the food stamp program. The Agriculture Department said that the rule would close “a loophole” that enables people receiving only minimal benefits from the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program to be eligible automatically for food stamps without undergoing further checks on their income or assets.

The USDA's move appears to be yet another attack on poor people. Do what Safe Haven Program Manager Kenya Edwards did and let your voice be heard. Let the USDA know you want to protect benefits, not attack them. It's easy and can make a difference in millions of lives. Just click here to submit your formal comment before the September 23, 2019, deadline.
