SENEDIA April 2026

e-Newsletter

From the Executive Director:

With two months under my belt as executive director of SENEDIA, the headline of my early tenure is all about the workforce, both inside and out.

I have been so impressed by and grateful for my SENEDIA colleagues, who have deep expertise in the defense sector and are singularly focused on delivering the best possible experience for our members. The programs and convenings they design foster innovation and collaboration in the sector, catalyze economic growth, and ultimately improve our national security.

And just as they have been an essential resource to me, the team at SENEDIA is an essential resource to our members.

If you are looking to grow your workforce, reach out to Chelsea Levesque. Chelsea and Paul Mankofsky do a fantastic job of vetting candidates for both soft skills and technical expertise, and the caliber of resumes they have at the ready is remarkable. They can help you connect with top talent, or test out prospective hires through the SENEDIA Internship Program. We cost share the expense, and we still have candidates available for the summer season.

As SENEDIA member Teledyne Marine – profiled below in this month’s newsletter – shared, workforce pipeline support is one of the most significant benefits of membership in our growing regional network, calling us “a platform to support workforce development and sustain regional maritime defense expertise.”

I couldn’t agree more.

Best Regards,

Stephen Guertin

Executive Director

SENEDIA Supports RI and MA NexGen Shipbuilders at Project MFG

More than 200 students from across Rhode Island and surrounding communities joined us at the Providence Career and Technical Academy this week for Project MFG's Defense Career Exploration Event and Student Maritime Welding Competition.

These students had the chance to:

🎖 Learn about high-wage, high-growth career opportunities in defense

🤝 Connect with 15+ industry suppliers and network for future opportunities

💬 Ask questions about the different ways in which they can serve their country

And participating students got to showcase their welding skills in a head-to-head, two-hour challenge designed to engage and excite the future workforce on careers in submarine shipbuilding. Congratulations to our top-performing students: Maria Sical of PCTA (1st place), Haley Clemm of the Warwick Area Career and Technical Center (2nd place), and Kyle Smith of the Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School (3rd place), who are now invited to compete in the national Project MFG competition in San Diego.
