Global Reflections
Exhibit in Progress
at Gallery@Courtyard
Through October 22

This annual exhibit exclusively features the work of Plano Art Association members.
The theme of the show is "Global Reflections. Art, the Universal Language."

The forty-plus works reflect the global vision of this group of very talented artists. All artists naturally express their own world experience through their art, consciously or unconsciously.

The subject matter and media selected for this exhibit is wide-ranging and varied, reflecting the diversity of the artists and their perspectives.

The special reception and awards presentation was held on Wednesday, September 22, at Gallery@Courtyard. Cash prizes were awarded to artists whose artwork had been judged tops.

Master of Ceremonies, Frank Turner, PAA Advisory Council member, introduced a number of representatives of the City of Plano and important art-related organizations.
Global Reflections Exhibit Winners Announced
The 42 paintings and photographers in this year's Global Reflections Exhibit, in conjunction with Plano International Festival, was judged by juror, Laura Grundler, Visual Art Coordinator for Plano Independent School District. We were honored to have her select pieces for awards of excellence.

According to Laura, she found it a major challenge to name winners among such high quality works. At the awards presentation she praised the participating artists for their artistic efforts.

The following received award certificates and cash awards:

September Members Meeting and Art Share
On September 28, our monthly members meeting will feature a Zoom Art Share hosted by John Van Ness. This is always an illuminating opportunity to share a piece of your artwork with fellow PAA members. It's a chance to invite input and share ideas about how you create your art, tips and suggestions.

Email an image of one of your pieces you would like to share to Gaby Pruitt no later than this Saturday, September 25. Send to adminexec@planoartassociation.org Be sure to include the title of the piece, the medium and dimensions.
Message from the President

Congratulations to everyone who is participating in this year's Global Reflections Show. Hope everyone gets a chance to personally see the exhibit.

I'd like to get some feedback from the membership about an idea. I believe it is important that PAA position itself for growth and stability leadership-wise.

Due to our reduced activity during the pandemic, it has been impossible for learning to take place among candidates for leadership. It occurs to me that it is now particularly important for more members to learn how the association works and how it serves the members and the community.

I am suggesting we institute LEADERSHIP PAA. This would be a simple program where interested members could attend a short series of workshop sessions in which you could gain knowledge that would prepare you for leadership. And, share your ideas about how we can improve services of PAA. We need on-going leadership for task teams, board members, advisory council members and future officers.

If YOU would be willing and interested in participating in this concept, please contact me. If interest can be confirmed, we will announce details and firm up the program. Contact me at president@planoartassociation.org

Amazon Smile
Did you know you can give money to the PAA just by using Amazon Smile. Instead of using the general Amazon website, sign on the Amazon Smile. Designate Plano Art Association as your charity and any purchases you make will have a small percentage of the Amazon profit go to the PAA instead. It is an easy way to give money, and you pay the same price for the items on Amazon Smile as you would for the regular Amazon. Just think if all of our members (and maybe their family and friends) would do this as a habit. It would really help our budget.
