We are living in a different time. Recently we had an inquiry for use of our outdoor space from artist Karen Fisher. She was interested in our Mary Garden and hoping to bring her friend Rosie, suffering from Alzheimer's Dementia, to possibly Plein Air paint in it. Karen recently had an exhibit called "The Darker Sooner."

Karen is preparing a follow up exhibit. The Sisters generously approved the visit to the grounds and were pleased at being able to provide hospitality during this time. Greeting Karen, Gayle Nosal (videographer) and Nancy Fischer while they waited for Rosie to join them on the grounds that beautiful Friday was a wonderful experience. We strolled and explored the inside of the Convent Chapel and the Labyrinth, as well as walked past the Gazebo to the lower garden Gethsemane, back to the waterfall and then I departed to offer them space for their art.
This experience has lived with me every day since. It encouraged me to rethink and reconsider: what else can we do right now? TSC is updating our website to assist in online programming and we are praying and planning for a reopening of St. Mary's in January 2022. We are currently busy with guests for the cottages and some groups in BethAnna. Faith Lang, Guest Services Manager at TSC asked if we were going to have a day retreat during Advent. That's a great idea, but I asked myself, why not now? So we are! Read below for details!

Diakonia:
From Service to Servant
Exploring the concepts of diakonia, attendees will move deeper into what it means to be a servant of Christ and how one is called “to be” in the world versus simply “doing” acts of charity.
About our retreat leader:
Since 2005, Douglas Argue has served as the Managing Director for the Coalition on Homelessness and Housing in Ohio. He is a facilitator for Wellstreams Spiritual Direction Program in Columbus.
Douglas earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Evansville in Evansville, Indiana, holds a Masters of Social Work from Indiana University; is an LISW in the state of Ohio; is an ordained deacon in the Episcopal Church; and lives in Columbus with his husband and their two four-legged children.
