Last month we looked at one of the many names God is called throughout the Bible...Adonai.

This month we look at Jehovah Rapha.

Jehovah-Rapha Meaning

The origin of the name Jehovah Rapha can be traced back to two Hebrew words used in the Old Testament, which in combination can mean “God who heals.”

“Jehovah,” which is derived from the Hebrew word Havah can be translated as “to be,” “to exist,” or “to become known.” The Hebraic translation of Rapha (râpâ) means “to restore” or “to heal.”

When does God first reveal Himself as Jehovah-Rapha in the Bible?

God first revealed Himself as Jehovah-Rapha to the Israelites after their exodus out of Egypt.

After three days of wandering in the Desert of Shur, the Israelites were in desperate need of water. They discovered a river, however, the waters were unfit to drink. As a reflection of the quality of the water and their emotional disposition, the Israelites named the river Mahra (bitter).

God divinely cleansed the waters by instructing Moses to throw a piece of wood into the water, thereby making it drinkable.

Following this miracle, God declared Himself as Jehovah Rapha to His people by proclaiming, “If you listen carefully to the LORD your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, who heals you.” (Exodus 15:26)

This promise was also a gesture of assurance from God to the Israelites, who had borne witness to the 10 plagues that God had released over all of Egypt prior to their release from slavery.

BACK TO SCHOOL

What benefits would school re-opening provide?

School closures have clear negative impacts on child health, education and development, family income and the overall economy.

The decision to reopen schools should include consideration of the following benefits:

• Allowing students to complete their studies and continue to the next level

• Essential services, access to nutrition, child welfare, such as preventing violence against children

• Social and psychological well-being

• Access to reliable information on how to keep themselves and others safe

• Reducing the risk of non-return to school

• Benefit to society, such as allowing parents to work

BACK TO GOD

“If my people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

2 Chronicles 7:14

Most children, throughout their lives, go back home after leaving for various reasons.  Maybe to visit, maybe for temporary housing, etc.  Generally, parents accept them as adults back into their homes.

We belong to God...He created mankind. So wouldn't it feel natural to be back with your parent/your creator? We were separated from Him because of sin.

Most people have heard of God but don't know Him.  So, they make up their minds from pieces of information and half-truths to either accept or reject God. God says "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.

And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart."  Jeremiah 29:11-13

There is love, mercy, and grace inherent in the Word of God. So, we have to remind each other who we belong to, especially those who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, Many individuals and families have forgotten about God, or only remember Him when they have a need.

Let's not forget the great things He has done and will do. Things we can share with believers and unbelievers.  We have to go back to His morals, values, and principals and let them show in our walk and talk. We do that by seeking and applying the Word of God.
