SEPTEMBER 2022 PRESIDENTS’ MESSAGE
Welcome back! Hopefully you took some time to connect with family and friends over the summer and enjoy some relaxation before heading back to school. We are excited to reconnect with our members and jump into the 2022-2023 school year. As we start the new school year, we want to first reflect on last year and thank the Long Island BTA board for their tremendous dedication to building a business education community for the students as well as teachers new and experienced.
We have high hopes for what our students will be learning and accomplishing this year, but their success depends on your guidance and expertise. While we know that our classes challenge our students, the classes also require teachers to rethink how they teach and stay current in the changes that are happening locally, statewide (digital fluency standards) and globally. As we each gather resources to support instruction for our students, we should be asking ourselves “what is something I can do better?” and “how can I get students excited about learning?” Long Island BTA will communicate regularly throughout the school year with updates, conferences, competitions, etc… We know that we are all busy but please take a few minutes to read the correspondences so that you don’t miss these amazing opportunities. We may face some challenges as we continue to move towards normalcy for our school community, we have no doubt that as an amazing group of educators we can continue to make those connections, support each other while leading to high quality instruction wrapped in care. Students are counting on us to provide instruction they need to be successful now and at the next level.
Our organization’s work will continue to align with our vision and is here to support our members anyway we can. Please know that we are committed to business education and seek to nurture a strong partnership with each member and school district involved. We look forward to an amazing school year and working with you.
Anthony Volodkin, Founder of Hype Machine says it best, “Be undeniably good. No marketing effort or social media buzzword can be a substitute for that.” Stand out in your classrooms and become an active member of Long Island Business Teachers' Association, the positives are unmeasurable!
All the best for the start to a terrific, fulfilling year!
