E-News - SEPTEMBER 2019
September always brings exciting opportunities for mission and ministry, but this September holds something special for NHBC. Vacation Bible School! VBS in the fall? Absolutely! Since our construction lasted a little longer than we expected, we have moved our annual Vacation Bible School to September 9-13. Beginning at 6:00 PM each evening, we will have a great VBS experience. We have already had families indicate their excitement because their children, who are not able to attend VBS in the summer, will be able to come to this fall session of VBS. Pray that God will use this week to reach children and their families with the love of Christ.

I can’t wait to see what God is going to do through you!

Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7 NIV
Stepping Out Testimonies
Many of our membership are “stepping out” into the community. This focus each month will allow you to hear from them, know how you can pray for that outreach and perhaps be inspired to join in as well.

We are very excited about a new ministry opportunity between NHBC and the Blessing Baskets ministry in Republic, Missouri. They prepare baskets containing toiletries and other items for applicants in need and also a food box. National Heights would then be a pick-up site for the applicants to come get their items. We would have set times for the pick ups to occur. We are VERY excited about the opportunities God presents for these face-to-face encounters with families in our community! Note: Our participation in this new ministry opportunity will not replace the Blessing Box ministry, nor involve additional funding. Come to the September business meeting to hear more!

Prime Timers
Prime Timer’s will meet on September 19 at 11 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. This month we will have Second Notes from Second Baptist for our entertainment. They are a group of about five or six that sing and play different instruments. Plan on coming and having a good time. Our meeting will start with prayer requests followed by a short business meeting before our entertainment. As always we will enjoy a carry-in lunch. Please bring a dish for our lunch of your own choosing. Remember Grand Oak Mission and their needs. Hostesses are: Carolyn Kane and Janet Trewatha.

On behalf of the Tooth Truck and the children we serve, it is my pleasure to thank you for donating crayons, colored pencils, toothpaste and floss. The coloring supplies will be added to our prize box for a child to select upon completion of a dental appointment, and the supplies will go home with them to practice good brushing and flossing habits. Because of donors like you, we are able to make a big impact on the oral health of the children in our community while boosting self-esteem, too. Thank you so much for your support.
Sincerely,
~Mindy Munoz, Tooth Truck Program Director

It takes a lot of wish list items to maintain our House and help our guests every day. Your selection of household products is perfect. And the toothpaste, floss, crayons and pencils are so appreciated by our little staff and patients.
Sincerely,
~Amy Grubaugh, Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Ozarks

 WOMEN ON MISSION HOLD INSTALLATION
Our Women on Mission organization has chosen the theme, LIVING LETTERS , as emphasis for the new church year which begins October 1. The group will be meeting in the church fellowship hall on Tuesday, September 10 at 9:30 a.m. The program emphasis for the morning will be the installation of officers under the direction of Judy Divine. The Scripture chosen for the yearly emphasis is taken from the Apostle Paul’s second writings to the Corinthian church. It is found in Second Corinthians 3:2-3 NIV “You show that you are a letter from Christ … written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the Living God, not on tablets of stone, but on tablets of the human heart.”
Our thanks to the Nominating Committee: Mildred Burns, Chairman, Doris Whitcher and Becky Mabus. Women on Mission will continue to encourage learning about and praying for missions. They will teach and practice the support of missions at home and around the world. They will engage in mission action and witnessing as an important part of their daily lives. This emphasis will continue to show the church as a vital ministry to knowing God better and sharing His love with others.
Hostesses for the coffee/snack/share time, from about 10:15 until 10:45, are Eva McNeely and Patti Crocker. The installation program led by Judy Divine begins at about 10:50. All women of the church are invited to attend and to participate. Guests are always welcome, both men and women.

WORK DAY FOR WOM
On Tuesday, September 24 at 9:30 a.m. Women on Mission will gather in fellowship hall for a morning of fun and work. Some of the group will be working on quilts which are later given to families in need through Grand Oak Mission. Mary McLemore leads in making the baby/children’s quilts. Doris Whitcher is in charge of making salvation bracelets. New members are always welcome and the women are delighted to teach newcomers how to tack the quilts. These are made for Grand Oak Mission Center, 2854 West Grand, which is owned and operated by Greene County Baptist Association.
Our women will be happy to teach anyone how to make the salvation bracelets too. These are used by our Greene County Baptist Association mission teams during the summer. Most of them go to Mexico or other Central American countries. Come join us for the fun and the work! You will be glad you did.
Hostesses for the coffee/snack/share time about 10:15 are Mildred Burns and Lois Wood. The morning of work ends at about 11:45 with no lunch
being served. Come and enjoy!

Thank you for your prayers and to all those who helped with our annual School Supply Giveaway. We had many sweet touches with our nearby neighbors. Please continue to pray that those who received supplies saw Jesus and will continue to feel His love as the supplies are used.
