Parents have a God Given Responsibility

“Train up a child in the way he should go: even when he is old, he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6

 As Christian parents, we are entrusted by God with the care, protection, and moral upbringing of our children. We must teach them to distinguish right from wrong, to respect the dignity of others, and to understand the truth about marriage, family, and the sanctity of human life. Raising children is not just a responsibility, it is a calling. 

Unfortunately, we live in a world where the fundamental rights of parents are too often challenged or disregarded. Schools and government institutions attempt to impose values that conflict with a family’s faith. Parenting is not a job that can be outsourced to school officials. Parents must remain informed, involved, and courageous. They must know their rights, ask questions, review what their children are being taught, and speak up when those rights are threatened. 

To help families do just that, Elena Coppola of Queens County Moms for Liberty joined Alex Bougher of Bergen County Moms for Liberty to host a back-to-school discussion at the Metropolitan Republican Club in Manhattan. Together, they provided parents with valuable information about their rights and encouraged them to remain actively involved in their children’s education. Their message was clear: parents must know what is happening in their children’s schools and have the courage to advocate for their families, their faith, and their freedom

The good news is that the U.S. Supreme Court has repeatedly affirmed that parents have the fundamental right to guide their children’s care, education, and upbringing. In Mahmoud v. Taylor, the Court supported parents who wanted to be notified and allowed to excuse their children from lessons that conflicted with their faith. More recently, in Mirabelli v. Bonta, the Court has protected parents who were being kept out of important decisions involving their children’s gender identity at school. The message has been clear that parents’ rights do not end at the schoolhouse door.



When the values taught at school conflict with a family’s Christian beliefs, parents should have the final say in guiding their children’s moral and religious upbringing. But those rights must be exercised to be protected. If parents remain silent, those rights may be ignored, weakened, and violated and children will continue to be harmed and drawn away from their faith and families.

The Life Rosary Retreat

on September 26, Nor'Easter hit Long Island and caused to close the Shrine of Our Lady of the Island, 258 Eastport Manor Rd. Manorville, NY; Therefore, the Life Rosary Retreat was cancelled!

The intentions of all who registered and planned on praying the Life Rosary in front of Our Lady of Guadalupe, were received by God. "Put the good intentions in your heart and God will take care of you. The more pure intentions, the better blessings will follow." Annonymous

The Roses which we ordered, 153 White Roses (Hail Mary), 16 Red (Our Father), 16 Yellow (Glory Be) were arranged in golden vases and brought to the Shrine of Our Lady Of the Island and placed in front of Our Lady of Guadalupe's image indoors.
