June Missions Recap 💦

For our VBS and June Mission of the Month, we supported Water Is Basic, an organization that not only drills new wells in South Sudan but trains and empowers women—whose “job” it is to collect water—to launch and manage well-repair businesses. Our goal was to raise $10,000 but raised $24,373! We are so grateful for your incredible support and the support of 350+ VBS families!

July Mission of the Month | Christmas in July 🎄

This July, we're celebrating Christmas in July by packing 500 shoeboxes for Mission Bulgaria—the most we've ever packed! These gifts help build relationships in Roma communities and are often the only Christmas presents Roma children receive.

Ways to serve in July:

• Sort and pack shoeboxes - boxes will be available outside worship starting this Sunday (July 5). Packing reminders: please do not include candy, soap, liquids, or sharp items, as the boxes travel for several months in changing weather.
• Shop for supplies - do this at your convenience; click here for ideas!
• Organize toys - email Brooke to set up a time!
• Tape box lids - email Brooke to set up a time!
• Help prepare 200 boxes for our students to pack at Fall Retreat - email Brooke!

Angel Tree Prep

Angel Tree is our November Mission of the Month and we also need help cutting and tying approximately 960 angel cards. You can even take them home to work on at your convenience. We're also looking for lay leaders to help make this ministry possible. Prayerfully consider how you can be part of sharing Christ's love this Christmas!

DONATION CORNER 🩳

A great big “thank you” to Asbury Member Tony Nichols for crafting the wonderful new “Donation Corner” shelf for us! This is a shining example of using your skills, interests, and passions for the glory of God and the good of others!

And, many thanks to Bonnie Higgins for serving as Asbury's new donation coordinator! Bonnie and her a fabulous team of people who will be helping sort your donations of clean glass jars, scripture cards, clothing, purses, food, eyeglasses, and more.

Do you have a Cricut or experience cutting vinyl? We could use a volunteer to help cut and adhere a few vinyl phrases for chalkboard signs we have. Email us if this is something you could do.

We are now partnering with Grace Klein Community (Morgan UMC Hub) to get more items for our food pantry. We pick up donations the last Wednesday of each month so we have extra for our first Saturday pantry openings. If you would like to serve in this way, please email Brooke.

Street Outreach Team 🍉

We're be sharing a meal with our neighbors at Church of the Reconciler on Sunday, August 2. If you are interested in donating sliced melon, plates, napkins, or cookies for dessert, email Brooke. If you are available to help serve, we would love to have you!

We are continuing our monthly lunch packing on Sunday after church for distribution on the second Monday of each month (the date changes, so be sure to check the calendar). If you would like to be a part of this ministry, email Lauren M.

English Classes 📝

English classes are starting at Asbury on Wednesday, August 26 at 5:30 p.m. for nine weeks. We can't wait to welcome our community! In addition to classes, we'll offer students support, a meal, and fellowship. Want to help? You don't have to have teaching experience – a welcoming presence is enough!

Shores | A Family Mission Trip Opportunity | Sept. 4-7 🌊

Shores is a Labor Day weekend mission experience for families with children of all ages to serve, grow, and make memories together. Families will stay at Gulf State Park Cabins and Cottages while partnering with local churches and nonprofits for beach outreach, community service, and hands-on opportunities to share the love of Jesus. You'll also have time to explore the Gulf Coast's unique wildlife and enjoy a fun, faith-filled weekend together. Part retreat, part mission trip, Shores is designed to help families experience faith in action and return home refreshed, encouraged, and inspired to keep serving together. Our next Asbury Serves (when our church family leaves the building to serve missions partners throughout Birmingham) is planned for Saturday, Sept. 26. Please mark your calendar so that you can be a part of this special outreach opportunity.

We are planning a Pumpkin Patch Fundraiser this October. If you have a passion for pumpkins, getting youth into missions, greeting the community with love, or helping with administration and logistics, we would love your help!
