Welcome to a new section highlighting epis and the work they are doing. We want to encourage you to reach out and share some of the cool and interesting projects/activities/stories related to your TB work. Basically, if you think something is cool, chances are others will too. To get this section started, we had Shona and Evan, of the SETC Executive Committee, act as our guinea pigs. We look forward to seeing what this section has in store.
Evan
In the fall of 2018, I had the pleasure of participating in the TB + Leprosy Free Majuro collaboration. Thanks to NTCA for being a springboard to recruit TB staff from the US and abroad. Without NTCA’s successful push to engage their stakeholders, I probably would have not known about the opportunity.

Shona
When I boarded the flight to Majuro, I tried not to have any expectations except that the next three weeks would be the experience of a lifetime. My only goals were to be open and flexible in any situation and to do my best to keep pushing the project forward.

SETC members play a large role in various SETC and NTCA led workgroups and committees. New members are always welcome.
If seeking the presidency is too much for you, or you don’t have time for committee participation, we still very much welcome your participation in other ways. We can’t evolve as an organization without the input of our membership. If you’re interested in participating in the organization formally or informally or just have ideas for the future, please don’t hesitate to reach out to

We would like to extend congratulations to two DTBE colleagues,
Mr. Elvin J. Magee and
Dr. Thomas Navin, on their recent retirements. Elvin served as a health scientist with the Statistics, Epidemiology, Outbreak and Investigations Branch (SEOIB). Tom served as the chief of SEOIB. World TB Day 2020 Activities
Each year we recognize World TB Day on March 24 with a variety of activities leading up to the official day. This annual event commemorates the date Dr. Robert Koch announced his discovery of the bacillus that causes tuberculosis (TB). The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) joins our international partners by adapting the global Stop TB Partnership’s 2020 World TB Day theme, which will once again be “It’s Time.”
NTCA is, once again, participating in the TB Survivor Hill Day (our 5th!) and Senate and House Briefings as our special contributions to the 2020 World TB Day activities. On March 24th. TB Survivors will meet with Congressional offices as constituents and with offices of those on the Appropriations Committees. A Senate and a House Briefing are scheduled on March 24
th. Julie Higashi, NTCA’s current president, is facilitating the Senate Briefing and presenting at and moderating the House Briefing. Look for a strong social media presence for this event and help us amplify the great work of our TB survivors by retweeting or liking the Twitter posts!
