SEVO-Med Sets Sights on Jacksonville Beaches Area for Third Animal Care Center
Jacksonville, Fla. (Feb. 16, 2015) - Southeast Veterinary Oncology and Internal Medicine (SEVO-Med), which specializes in the innovative and progressive treatment of pet cancer and provides specialty diagnostics and treatment for many forms of diseases, is expanding into the Jacksonville beaches area.
SEVO-Med has just signed a lease on a 5,500-square-foot facility at 14333 Beach Blvd., located at the intersection of Beach Boulevard and San Pablo Road in the Pablo Station Shopping Center.
According to Dr. Jennifer Locke with SEVO-Med, the company has been looking to expand into the beaches area for some time.
"Our state-of-the-art new center will provide a second convenient location for our families across Jacksonville and the surrounding areas, especially for those families located near the Beaches and Southside areas of Jacksonville," Dr. Locke said. "The timing of our expansion could not be better, as we've outgrown our flagship Orange Park location. We will now provide two sites of specialty veterinary care to the North Florida region, in addition to our Savannah location servicing those families in South Georgia."
Dr. Locke will be the lead oncologist at the new center, with Dr. Katrina (Trina) Toshach serving as internal medicine specialist. Dr. Locke says the beaches location will have a staff of up to 15 when it's fully operational this summer.
Based in Orange Park, Florida and founded in 2004 by Dr. Tracy LaDue, SEVO-Med was the first veterinary center to offer internal medicine in Northeast Florida - and remains the only board-certified veterinary oncology center in the region. The first expansion came in July 2009 when it opened a center in Savannah. With the beaches location, SEVO-Med will have three centers in operation.
Pet owners from around the United States, and from several other countries, have sought out the center to help in the treatment of their dogs, cats and other animals. Medical specialists at the center have completed undergraduate training, four years of veterinary school and an additional three-to-five years of training in a specialized field (medical oncology, radiation oncology, and/or internal medicine)
The SEVO-Med beaches location will be equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment that offers a wide range of diagnostic services and therapies specifically designed for each pet receiving care at the center.
