ROUTINE & ELECTIVE APPOINTMENTS ARE RESTRICTED
The California Department of Public Health has recently updated their guidelines regarding dentistry returning to all phases of dental care. However, local ordinances still take precedence over state guidelines if the local mandates are more restrictive. At this time, the City and County of San Francisco still allows only "essential" medical and dental appointments and procedures that cannot be delayed or postponed without reasonably foreseeable negative medical or health impact to the patient. The City and County of San Francisco, is still prohibiting "routine" or "elective" medical and dental appointments and procedures that can be temporarily postponed with no reasonably foreseeable negative medical or health impact to the patient.
On behalf of our members, the San Francisco Dental Society is urging local officials to update our city and county mandates to align with the new California Department of Public Health recommendations that provide guidelines for our prudent return to practice in order to safeguard the oral health of our patients and the economic stability of our practices as San Francisco small businesses and employers.
Stay safe and healthy as we overcome this crisis together,
SFDS Executive Committee
P.S. Happy Mother's Day
