Let’s Socialize for a Safer San Francisco

Let’s socialize—and make San Francisco safer in the process!

Part of living up to our name—SF SAFE, a.k.a. “San Francisco Safety Awareness for Everyone”—means connecting with our community in the best way possible. It’s how we help realize our mission of engaging, educating and empowering San Franciscans to build safer neighborhoods through crime prevention, education and public safety services that result in stronger, more vibrant and resilient communities.

Castro Community on Patrol Gives Time to Stop Crime

You may have seen their bright, orange reflector vests illuminated by the Castro’s streetlights in the night. Or perhaps they may have passed by you at a recent street festival, a calm presence ready to mobilize whenever needed.

Since the fall of 2006, Castro Community on Patrol (CCOP) has been patrolling the Castro’s streets in groups of three to four citizen volunteers with the primary aim of keeping people safe.

Seven Spring Safety Tips for Staying Safe in San Francisco

Whether you’re an old school San Franciscan or a visiting tourist, staying safe is always the smart call.

SF SAFE has teamed up with the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD), Fisherman’s Wharf, the Hotel Council of San Francisco, San Francisco Travel, Union Square Business Improvement District and the District Attorney’s Office of San Francisco to offer up some tips for staying safe while out and about in our beautiful city by the bay.

The Power of Personal Connections Propels Parra’s Work

It’s the power of personal connections—and his desire to help people—that propel the work of Jorge Parra, SF SAFE’s new public safety and community engagement coordinator, in his role serving the San Francisco community.

Parra, who joined the SF SAFE team in April 2018, has hit the ground running in his multifaceted position that includes a range of safety-centric outreach activities, including helping to facilitate and organize Neighborhood Watch groups, hosting Safety Workshops relevant to community members of all ages and teaming up with the Community Police Advisory Boards (CPABs) to help police captains facilitate and host events for the community.
