General Contractors Association's The Inside Track

Doug Cullison, SFA's prekindergarten program manager, showcased how SFA works with pre-qualified contractors to expedite the construction process to deliver classrooms under budget at an accelerated pace to packed room of general contractors at a recent industry education session, The Inside Track, sponsored by the General Contractors Association (GCA) of Hawai‘i.  

The live, in-person event series, held at the Pacific Club, brings together leaders from both the public and private sectors to share valuable updates on upcoming construction projects across Hawai‘i. More than just a rundown of bid opportunities, each session provides in-depth insights into priorities, funding outlooks, and long-term planning.



The SFA team was honored to present alongside industry leaders and Lt. Governor Sylvia Luke as we look ahead to building Hawaiʻi’s future — with Pre-K, the New Central Maui School, and Educator Workforce Housing on the horizon.

A Sneak Preview of What's to Come!
SFA Holds Informational Open House Events on 
New Central Maui School

SFA and the Maui-based team behind the new central Maui school project held its first Informational Open House on September 18 and Sept. 21, 2025 at the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College Pilina Center. This event was designed to give the Maui community an opportunity to learn about the project timeline, share ideas and concerns to create a school that reflects the communityʻs values and culture.

"We know it is important to take the time to listen to the community to understand what is important to them," said Joji Matsumoto, SFA's program manager for the school modernization projects. "Many expressed their appreciation to SFA for engaging with the community while we are still in the early, preliminary stages of this project."

The first phase of the new school will open to middle school students in 2030. Land has been set aside as part of the Waikapū Country Town Development and the Hawai‘i State Legislature has allocated $76 million to date for this school project. 

We would like to thank all who attended the open house event. The interest and support shown through your attendance is encouraging as we continue the process for this important project for Maui and Hawai‘i. All feedback and input have been carefully logged and recorded for our team to synthesize and process.
