The teacher workforce housing project at Mililani High School has reached a new, exciting milestone. An environmental assessment (EA), which is an important step in the pre-construction phase of the project, is currently underway. In an update on the project at the Mililani-Waipio-Melemanu neighborhood board meeting on Sept. 24, Cheri Nakamura, SFA's program and policy officer, said the EA process is now looking at traffic, biological, and archaeological and cultural studies to evaluate existing conditions. The EA will identify the project's potential impacts and recommend necessary mitigation measures.
"There will be opportunities for the community to review the draft EA and share their comments," Nakamura said. Representatives from Pacific Housing Assistance Corporation, the non-profit developer that is partnering with SFA for this project, participated online in the hybrid neighborhood board meeting. SFA said they anticipate a draft of the EA will be available in the first quarter of 2026, and the community will have opportunities to review and provide their comments on the EA.
SFA remains committed to keeping the community informed as the Mililani workforce housing project moves forward. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Cheri Nakamura at the SFA or visit the Mililani workforce housing microsite.
