iWrite2Fight Online Poetry Workshops

On February 24, 2015, the Sarcoma Foundation of America, in partnership with Fighting Cancer with Poetry, launched the online webinar series, "iWrite2Fight."

Research indicates that expressive writing may contribute to improved physical and emotional health. The purpose of the "iWrite2Fight" series is to assist participants with learning how to use poetry and writing as a tool to inform, impact, inspire, cope, heal, and express their experiences with cancer.

Register today for the next iWrite2Fight workshop scheduled for March 24, 2015.

Rare Disease Week 2015
Each year, the last week of February is set aside as a time dedicated to raising awareness for the incredible needs of the rare disease community.  Last month, several sarcoma advocates made the journey to Washington, DC, to participate in the activities of Rare Disease Week.  Advocates from around the United States came together to participate in several events, including a legislative conference hosted by the Rare Disease Legislative Advocates (RDLA), as well as a day of meetings on Capitol Hill.  During this time, advocates shared their stories with legislators and their staff to demonstrate why more needs to be done for patients with rare diseases like sarcoma.

Among the sarcoma advocates in attendance was Don Sills, Sr.  Don, along with his son, Don, Jr., traveled from North Carolina to share the story of his wife Cindy, who was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma in 2012 on their 35th wedding anniversary.  After a valiant battle against the disease, Cindy passed away in 2013.  Don, an advocate since Cindy's diagnosis, continues to be a tireless voice for those with sarcoma.

The Sarcoma Foundation of America thanks Don and all of the advocates who generously shared their time and effort to be a voice for the sarcoma community.

New SFA Patient & Caregiver Mobile & Web App Now Available!

The Sarcoma Storylines self-care tool from Sarcoma Foundation of America, and powered by Health Storylines?, lets you use the power of your story to personalize your care, create your own support network, and influence the way medicine cares for people like you in the future.

Sarcoma Storylines allows you to track your appointments, mood, symptoms, and more on the same timeline as your treatment. It gives you an accurate, shareable record of your experience between physician visits and helps you and your care team collaborate on treatment strategies. The app is useful for someone living with sarcoma as well as a caregiver.

Share Your Story!
Each Wednesday, the SFA will share the story of someone whose life has been touched by sarcoma. If you or a loved one has been impacted by sarcoma cancer, we encourage you to share your story.

Sharing your story can be such an inspiration to others who are dealing with sarcoma in their own life and remind us all of the urgency to find better treatments in order to make an impact on the devastation that sarcoma cancer brings. Let your experiences help others become involved with raising awareness!
