Happy July!

Welcome to summer at the Shore! The food stores and the roadways are a bit more crowded and there are events to attend that are only available during these summer months.

Some of your activities are unique to this time of year. You're spending more time outside, you're sailing on your boat, you're gardening, you may be more physically active or you may be travelling. Whatever you are doing, you are stressing your body differently. You are using different muscles. You may even be eating differently No matter what you are doing differently, one thing remains constant. It is in your best interest to have your spine checked on a regular basis to ensure your spinal cord, brain and nerves are working at their best. You don't wait to brush your teeth until you have a cavity. You don't wait to shower until you are filthy. You shouldn't wait for a symptom to get adjusted. Only roughly ten percent of your nerves are capable of sensing pain so why base your function on ten percent of your nerves. The other ninety percent do not sense pain but rather supply vital information to your muscles and internal organs. Clearly, that function is more important.

As your summertime activities change, keep the healthy routine of getting checked and adjusted. We are here for you.

See you on your next visit.

What is happening here?

Someone mentioned that a television commercial for a medication informed them that, "connected to my muscles are nerves". It seemed that they were never taught that (or remember being taught that).

This basic foundation of human physiology that nerves control our muscles (and every other body part) should be taught to EVERY child in elementary school. Why do we need television commercials to educate adults on this issue? This basic FACT of human anatomy … our nerve system controls, runs, and coordinates every system in the body should be something everyone knows.

So, let's think about it. If my nerve system controls every system in the body, then would it control:

-hormones - yes

-digestion - yes

-sleeping - yes

-digesting and processing food - yes

-adapting to stress - yes

-moods - yes

-lungs - yes

-heart - yes

-liver - yes

-the ability to fight off colds and flu - yes

-the ability to drive a car - yes

-muscles - of course.

-athletic ability - unfortunately, haha.

-eyes and ears - yes

-blood sugar - yes

-blood pressure - yes

-hand eye coordination - yes

-everyday performance - yes

-vocal cords - yes

-etc.,

The NERVE system controls, directs, coordinates, and runs every function in the body. The nerve system is the foundation behind all of the everyday things that we do. From eating and enjoying our food to performing in school or on the job.

Structure affects function, so, how your spine works and moves effects how your bodyworks and functions. There is a correlation between how YOU function and YOUR spine. Chiropractors help your spine function better by taking care of the structures (vertebrae) which protects your nerve system. If you have a vertebral subluxation, a misaligned spinal bone that disrupts nerve system function, your body can never function as properly as it should.

The chiropractor’s objective is to locate, analyze, and assist in the correction of vertebral subluxations (restoring normal alignment and function of the spine to allow the proper brain-body communication). This helps to ensure that messages are getting through properly, resulting in a body that functions better. This makes you better able to give your best to people that count on you. Chiropractic is all about giving you a better opportunity to improve the function of nerve system, NOT back and neck problems.

What is the point here? Basic anatomy principles should be taught to children beginning in kindergarten. It is so simple. Just knowing these basic FACTS of life creates an understanding in people that will guide them in their decisions. Children will GROW UP empowered instead of uninformed and will make better decisions!

It's not how you feel, it's how you function

Form and function

Racing cars have spoilers to cut down on wind "drag".

Structure affects function.

Swimmers may shave their bodies and wear skin-tight suits to lessen their resistance in the water.

Structure affects function.

Bowling balls are round for a reason. How many pins could you hit if the bottom of the ball was shaved flat?

Structure affects function.

Your body is functioning exactly as it is currently designed. To change the function of your body, YOU MUST CHANGE THE DESIGN, the structure!

When you and your family have your spines checked weekly for subluxations, you influence your structure (body) in a positive way. If your structure is better, your function will be better, every time regardless of the presence or absence of symptoms.

Has everyone in your family had their spines checked this week?

That's a fact!

The science is clear that the spine is NOT just a hard protective covering around the soft delicate nerve structures with movable segments and discs in between that allow us to move.

The spine constantly send critical input into the brain every milli-second that we are alive. This occurs so that the brain and nervous system can properly assess and adapt to its environment four ultimate survival of the organism.

This means any alteration or abnormalities to the spine will wreak havoc to the brain, its ability to comprehend and respond to its internal and external environment, and thus....the healthy expression of the individual.

THAT'S A FACT!
