Happy June!

Yes, it's June!!

Did you set goals at the beginning of the year? Did you make a list of household improvements? Are you exercising and eating better? Did you create a vision board for 2026? Well, how's it going? Are you crossing items off the list? What's interfering with your accomplishments? Removing the interference is key to almost anything we do in life, especially when it comes to our life expression.

You have heard us in the office repeatedly say that we are checking your spine for vertebral subluxations and thereby removing the interference to you expressing your life potential. This is huge! You cannot be at your best if you have nerve interference. It doesn't matter how much you exercise, how much you change your diet or how much you sleep, if you're not able to process them accurately and fully.

Identifying what's in your way to your goals is vital to accomplishing them. Is it motivation? Ask a friend to help you identify where to begin. Are you overwhelmed? Break it down to bite size pieces. Set a timer for fifteen minutes. Have you started exercising? Enlist the help of a trainer or work-out buddy. Now's a great time to focus on yourself so you can be there for others.

We are in the office five days a week and have open office hours to remove as much of the scheduling interference as possible. Running Late? Call or text and we will wait for you. We want you to be the best version of you! It's not about your back. It's not about your pain. It's about your life!

See you on your next visit.

Communication

Your body is constantly communicating within itself. Every moment of every day, the brain sends messages through the spinal cord and nerves to every organ, muscle, gland, tissue, and cell. At the same time, the body sends information back to the brain so it can coordinate and respond appropriately.

This communication happens automatically. You do not consciously tell your heart to beat, your lungs to breathe, or your stomach to digest food. These functions are directed through the nerve system by what chiropractic science and philosophy refer to as the Innate Law of Living Things — the inborn wisdom that organizes the body.

When communication is clear, the body is able to function and express itself more completely. When interference develops within the nerve system, communication is altered and the body does not function as well as it can. Chiropractic teaches that vertebral subluxations can disturb the transmission of innate impulses between the brain and body.

A chiropractor’s objective is to locate, analyze, and correct vertebral subluxations in order to support clearer communication within the body. Chiropractic focuses on improving the transmission of nerve signals between the brain and body, helping the body function, adapt, and express itself more effectively.

Attitude

“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, then circumstances, than failures, then successes, then what other people think or say or do. It is more important that appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make her break a company, a church, a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past. We cannot change the fact that people will act in certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play of the one string we have and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% however I react to it. And so it is with you we are in charge of our attitudes.

Questions about spinal adjustments

question mark

Spinal joints that are locked up, fixated (subluxated) or not moving right can lessen your body's ability to function at its best by creating interference to your body's master controller - the nerve system. This happens when  Chiropractic adjustments eliminate the interference to your nerve system and allow your body to function as best it can for as long as it can regardless of the presence or absence of symptoms.

There are many ways to adjust the spine. We use only our hands. Others may use an instrument. It is an art that we as chiropractors trained long and hard to master.

Can I adjust myself? No. Some people can make their joints "pop" but that is not an adjustment. It is non-specific and potentially damaging. With all of our training, even we cannot adjust our own spines.

Are adjustments safe? Yes. New Zealand government study concluded that chiropractic adjustments are "remarkably safe." Taking an over-the-counter pain reliever is about 100 times more risky.

Will adjustments make my spine too loose? No. Only the spinal bones that are subluxated will be adjusted. This allows weakened soft tissue structures to stabilize and heal.

What makes the sound? Lubricating fluid is present in each spinal joint. Some adjusting methods can produce a sound when the gasses pass through the membrane surrounding the joint. It's like opening a can of soda or removing a suction cup. The sound may be interesting, but has no correlation to the quality or effectiveness of the adjustment.

Today's quote

The danger of trying to get sick people well

Taking credit means taking blame.

One of the biggest traps chiropractors can fall into is slowly starting to take responsibility for every positive thing that happens in somebody’s life.

A person’s headaches improve.

A child starts doing better in school.

Somebody sleeps better.

Somebody has more energy.

Somebody’s digestion changes.

Somebody’s anxiety decreases.

Somebody’s pain goes away.

Over time, chiropractors can begin mentally connecting every positive change directly back to chiropractic.

But the problem is this:

The moment chiropractors start taking credit for every positive thing that happens in somebody’s life, they also quietly inherit responsibility when life starts moving in the opposite direction.

And eventually it will.

Human life moves in cycles.

People improve.

People regress.

People get sick.

People recover.

People deteriorate.

People age.

People go through stress.

People experience loss.

Eventually all of us die.

No chiropractor controls all the variables involved in another human being’s life.

People are constantly exposed to physical, chemical, and emotional stress.

People make choices.

People adapt differently.

People heal differently.

That’s one of the reasons why we do not base your care on how you are feeling. How you are feeling says nothing about how you are functioning.

Not because people never notice changes afterward.

Not because positive things never happen.

Not because we don't care about people.

But because nobody can say with absolute certainty exactly why every change occurred.

Sometimes changes happen after vertebral subluxation correction.

Sometimes they do not.

Sometimes they may have happened anyway regardless of chiropractic.

A father once told his chiropractor:

“Ever since my son started getting his spine checked, he’s doing much better in school.”

The chiropractotr replied:

“It’s not that I don’t appreciate hearing positive things happen. I’m glad when people notice positive changes. Sometimes changes happen quickly, sometimes they take time, sometimes there’s no noticeable change at all, and sometimes changes happen that may have had nothing to do with chiropractic in the first place and were simply going to happen anyway.

The reality is none of us can predict these things with absolute certainty.”

So we bring the conversation back to the objective - what we do as chiropractors and why we do it.

Regardless of what somebody notices or does not notice, people are still better off free from vertebral subluxation than with vertebral subluxation because vertebral subluxation represents interference to the expression of life through the body.

That objective stays consistent independent of outcomes.

The objective does not revolve around trying to predict, promise, explain, or take ownership over every change happening in somebody’s life.

The chiropractic objective is:

locate and correct vertebral subluxation because vertebral subluxation represents interference to the expression of life through the body.

That objective remains stable whether symptoms improve or not.

Whether somebody notices changes or not.

Whether life temporarily gets better or worse afterward.
