Happy March!

March is a month and it's also a verb. It calls for action. The month brings Daylight Savings Time, St. Patrick's Day and the beginning of Spring. The verb brings action. "March into a Better You", "March in place", "March forth".

The month brings hope, rebirth and celebration. The frigid weather is behind us, the flowers will soon start to sprout and the birds will sing.

The warmer weather will, hopefully, encourage you to be more active. Taking a walk outside tends to be good for the soul. Notice the flowers, notice the birds, notice your neighbors and notice how your body likes and needs movement.

March is a great month to focus on you. Continue, or return to, having your spine checked for vertebral subluxations on a regular basis. We know you are busy, but the busier you are, the more you need to keep yourself the #1 priority. Those vertebral subluxations (spinal misalignments that interfere with your nerve system) usually do not have for . Given the option, would you rather have your body functioning as close to 100% as possible or settle for something less than 100%?

We are here for you. We thank you for being a part of our chiropractic family. See you on your next visit.

It's not how you feel, it's how you function

form and function

Racing cars have spoilers to cut down on wind "drag".

Structure affects function.

Swimmers may shave their bodies and wear skin-tight suits to lessen their resistance in the water.

Structure affects function.

Bowling balls are round for a reason. How many pins could you hit if the bottom of the ball was shaved flat?

Structure affects function.

Your body is functioning exactly as it is currently designed. To change the function of your body, YOU MUST CHANGE THE DESIGN.

When you and your family have your spines checked weekly for subluxations, you influence your structure (body) in a positive way. If your structure is better, your function will be better.  Every time.

Chiropractic strata

The study of chiropractic is not unlike the search for diamonds in South Africa. At first people found a few diamonds in the yellow clay, and they were delighted with their good fortune, even while they supposed that this was to be the full extent of their find.

Then, upon digging deeper, they came upon the blue clay, and, to their amazement, they then found as many precious stones in a day as they had previously found in a year, and what had formerly seemed like wealth faded into insignificance beside the new riches.

In your exploration and understanding of chiropractic truth, see to it that you do not rest satisfied in the yellow clay of a few health miracle discoveries, but press on to the rich blue clay underneath. Chiropractic, however, differs from the diamond field in the sublime fact that beneath the blue clay there are more and still more and richer strata.

The yellow clay represents chiropractic as a treatment for musculoskeletal disorders. The blue clay represents chiropractic as a treatment for certain organic disorders, then chiropractic for the prevention of disease, then on to chiropractic as the maintenance of health.

But far below the blue strata is the pinnacle of what the purest approach (the non-therapeutic apprach) to chiropractic is truly all about: the correction of vertebral subluxation in all people.

The objective of the non-therapeutic approach is not to treat or cure anything, but to maintain the spinal integrity of all people, sick or well, throughout life.

Non-therapeutic chiropractic holds that every human being, under every circumstance, functions better at all levels if the integrity of the nerve system is maintained.

Chiro Q & A

Is it true that once you start going to a chiropractor you have to keep going forever?

That's like asking, once you start eating good nutrition, do you have to keep doing it forever?

No, you can eat one good meal and then let your nutrition go to hell from that point on. Intelligent people eat good nutrition all the time. Intelligent people with chiropractic want to keep their spines free of nerve damage all the time. It's not going to a chiropractor that causes the need to go. Everybody needs to go, if they want to have a normally functioning nerve system free from vertebral subluxation. So what I recommend is that every person keeps going forever.

Congratulations to the winner of our “Guess the number of Hershey's kisses” contest

Congratulations to Peyton! She won a gift card to WaWa for guessing the closest number of Hershey's kisses. Her guess was 267. The actual number of kisses was 268. Enjoy your gift card!

The Scale

Think of one of those two sided scales, most commonly associated with the scale of justice.

Everyday stresses that can overwhelm your body's resistance and cause you to become subluxated are on one side of the scale. Getting your spine checked and adjusted and all the other things you do to improve your life are on the other side.

Which side is overloaded?

When you first begin care you may need to be checked and adjusted more frequently to change the memory of the abnormal vertebral subluxation patterns. Since you've been adding stress to the one side of the scale daily since birth, I have to try to overload the other side.

When your spine becomes stronger, it is usually better able to adapt and handle many of these stresses, which is why frequency of care is then usually reduced based on our objective findings.

Just keep in mind that because the stress side of the scale will never be empty, neither should the side that requires you to get your spine checked regularly for the presence of vertebral subluxations. And you know, chances are that the more stress (emotional, chemical, and physical) you are under, the more you may want to be checked.

Let's also not forget to introduce and share chiropractic with everyone we know so that we can help balance their scale, or even tip it to the better functioning side.
