Happy May!

Yes, you MAY!!

If you have been waiting for the perfect time to have your spine checked, now is the time. If you have been waiting for the perfect weather to get outside and start yard work and take some walks, now is the time. If you have been consistent with your chiropractic care and waiting for the perfect time to bring your spouse and children, now is the time. If you have been waiting to start making better food choices and exercising, now is the time. If you have been waiting for someone's permission to start a project or work towards a goal, you have it.

You MAY return to the office for chiropractic adjustments. You MAY start your yard work and take a walk in the neighborhood. You MAY call and arrange for your loved ones to begin their chiropractic journey. You MAY make better food choices. You MAY start a project and work towards your goals.

You see, life is too short to wait for the perfect weather or the perfect timing to take care of yourself. Now is the time!

Simply put - Chiropractic is the adjustment of vertebral subluxations for a fuller expression of life! MAY you take advantage of the opportunities before you and have your spine checked on a regular basis.

See you on your next visit.

What is our objective? Practice member continuing education

We recently attended a continuing education program - 15 hours over a 2 day period. During this weekend, it dawned on me: If chiropractors regularly renew their education skills in the areas of the philosophy, art and science of chiropractic, shouldn't our practice members do the same? With that, here is a refresher course in what chiropractic is and what chiropractors do.

Cracking your back is not what chiropractic is about. Nor is it about treating your ache or pain. Nor is it a treatment for some medical disease. Chiropractic is not about your back, it's not about your pain, it's about your life!

Making an adjustment - using a specific force in a specific way in a specific place to correct a vertebral subluxation DONE WITH CONSISTENCY. It is a process by which we degenerate and it is a process by which we regenerate. That's why you need to be under regular chiropractic care for the rest of your life - to guide you through the process.

You need to get your subluxations corrected because they are nasty things. A subluxation, once it occurs, causes cellular death. When enough cells die, tissues die. When enough tissues die, organs die. When enough organs die, organ systems die. And when enough origan systems die, YOU DIE. Chiropractic is about life and death. It's got nothing to do with back aches.

We correct vertebral subluxations because subluxation, of and by itself, is detrimental to life.

Irregular chiropractic care is totally, absolutely, irrevocably useless. We are not of the school that says one adjustment in a lifetime leaves one better of than if you got none - because you didn't correct anything. Why? Because IT'S A PROCESS! All irregular care does is give you one day of freedom from vertebral subluxation in a lifetime of subluxation.

And we, as Chiropractors, are the only people who take care of vertebral subluxations.

See you on your next visit.

Thanks to our mentor, the late Joe F. Donofrio, DC for the inspiration and content of this article.

Questions about spinal adjustments

Spinal joints that are locked up, fixated (subluxated) or not moving right can lessen your body's ability to function at its best by creating interference to your body's master controller - the nerve system. This happens when  Chiropractic adjustments eliminate the interference to your nerve system and allow your body to function as best it can for as long as it can regardless of the presence or absence of symptoms.

There are many ways to adjust the spine. We use only our hands. Others may use an instrument. It is an art that we as chiropractors trained long and hard to master.

Can I adjust myself? No. Some people can make their joints "pop" but that is not an adjustment. It is non-specific and potentially damaging. With all of our training, even we cannot adjust our own spines.

Are adjustments safe? Yes. New Zealand government study concluded that chiropractic adjustments are "remarkably safe." Taking an over-the-counter pain reliever is about 100 times more risky.

Will adjustments make my spine too loose? No. Only the spinal bones that are subluxated will be adjusted. This allows weakened soft tissue structures to stabilize and heal.

What makes the sound? Lubricating fluid is present in each spinal joint. Some adjusting methods can produce a sound when the gasses pass through the membrane surrounding the joint. It's like opening a can of soda or removing a suction cup. The sound may be interesting, but has no correlation to the quality or effectiveness of the adjustment.

Simplicity

"Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler."

~Albert Einstein

1.The body is a self-healing mechanism. Cut your finger; it heals. Cut the finger of a corpse; it does not. Life heals.

2.The nervous system is the master system of the body. Every aspect of the human experience is processed through the nervous system.

3.When there is interference with the function of the nervous system, not only can it compromise your physical well-being, but it also can have psycho-emotional consequences because it distorts your perception of the world and limits your ability to respond to the environment. When this happens to a significant number of people in a society, you have a sick society.

4.What I do as a chiropractor is locate and correct the cause of that interference.
