We recently attended a continuing education program - 15 hours over a 2 day period. During this weekend, it dawned on me: If chiropractors regularly renew their education skills in the areas of the philosophy, art and science of chiropractic, shouldn't our practice members do the same? With that, here is a refresher course in what chiropractic is and what chiropractors do.
Cracking your back is not what chiropractic is about. Nor is it about treating your ache or pain. Nor is it a treatment for some medical disease. Chiropractic is not about your back, it's not about your pain, it's about your life!
Making an adjustment - using a specific force in a specific way in a specific place to correct a vertebral subluxation DONE WITH CONSISTENCY. It is a process by which we degenerate and it is a process by which we regenerate. That's why you need to be under regular chiropractic care for the rest of your life - to guide you through the process.
You need to get your subluxations corrected because they are nasty things. A subluxation, once it occurs, causes cellular death. When enough cells die, tissues die. When enough tissues die, organs die. When enough organs die, organ systems die. And when enough origan systems die, YOU DIE. Chiropractic is about life and death. It's got nothing to do with back aches.
We correct vertebral subluxations because subluxation, of and by itself, is detrimental to life.
Irregular chiropractic care is totally, absolutely, irrevocably useless. We are not of the school that says one adjustment in a lifetime leaves one better of than if you got none - because you didn't correct anything. Why? Because IT'S A PROCESS! All irregular care does is give you one day of freedom from vertebral subluxation in a lifetime of subluxation.
And we, as Chiropractors, are the only people who take care of vertebral subluxations.
See you on your next visit.
