Have you ever heard anyone use this as a reason why they would not want to have a chiropractic evaluation? If so, then I would have to say that you are not alone. I have heard this sentiment numerous times.
When I hear these words spoken, I have to ask myself, "What is it that they don't 'believe' in?" After all, I’m not Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny. We work with scientific universal laws and principles that work whether you believe in them or not. Try not believing in gravity and you walk off a 10-story building and see what happens. But whatever it is they don’t believe in, that’s OK as I rather they understand it and make their decisions based on that information.
Do you understand chiropractic?
Well, let's find out. Four simple questions will hopefully show you that you do.
Question 1: Do you understand that your brain and nerve system’s responsibility is to control and coordinate all of your bodily functions? If you do, then you are in agreement with every physiology textbook that has been published.
Question 2: Do you understand that your brain sends out information, in the way of chemicals and electrical brain waves or messages, over the nerve system to control and coordinate every physiological function you perform? Again, if you do then you are in agreement with every textbook ever written on the subject.
Question 3: Can you see that a disruption of the information over the nerve system causes a state of imbalance and threatens your quality of life, potential, and performance in everything you do and are? If so, you are in agreement with anyone who has ever studied the Central Nerve System.
Question 4: Do you agree that removing any obstruction to nerve function would improve your brain's ability to control and coordinate all of your bodily functions allowing you to have a better chance of achieving your potential in everything you do and are in life? If you do then you agree with all the published research on the topic.
If you answered yes to all those questions you understand chiropractic (and can choose to ‘believe’ in it too, if you want to).
A Chiropractor's goal is to check your spine for vertebral subluxations, which are misaligned spinal bones that are causing interference to the proper function of your nerve system.
Subluxations occur regularly in everyone due to our body being overwhelmed by the physical, chemical, and emotional stresses that we are all exposed to daily. When subluxations are found, chiropractors then perform spinal adjustments to allow more normal function and alignment of the bones of your spine, which helps restore your ability to regulate and maintain proper nerve system function. When this occurs, your body has a greater potential to function at its best in everything it does.
Pretty simple, isn't it? When you really understand the concept behind how chiropractic works, then you realize that you do not need to ‘believe' in chiropractic.
We then have to ask bigger questions like…
-Do you want to be a parent, spouse, sibling, child, etc. with subluxations and a malfunctioning nerve system, or without subluxations and a nerve system that will allow you to be better able to access your optimum potential in those roles? Why?
-What about your job, school, or things you do for fun? Would you prefer to do those things subluxated and with nerves interference or unsubluxated and with a better functioning nerve system? Why?
-Lastly, would you want to be unsubluxated with a better functioning nerve system just for a few days or as much as possible for the rest of your life? Why? Obviously, the world would be better if everyone (including YOU) functioned at their best and optimum potential in all aspects of their LIFE.
So then why do so many people use the "I don't believe in chiropractic" excuse? Good question. We can only surmise that people don't understand what chiropractors do so they just default to the "I don't believe" stance.
In the end, this is quite sad because if explained properly they’ll be able to understand chiropractic. If no one tells them the truth they may never experience what chiropractic has to offer because of a misunderstanding. Sadly, too many people will continue to live lesser quality lives due to nerve interference caused by vertebral subluxations and the world will miss out on their potential. It doesn't have to be that way!
If you already know this information, send this article to someone you care about that may not.
If you received this from friend or a loved one, and you were one of the people that thought you didn't believe in chiropractic, you owe it to yourself to have a chiropractic evaluation. It's not hard to do, just pick up the phone and call the office. We'll sit down with you and hear any of your concerns. We'll walk you through the entire process, and then we will discuss things in ways that you can understand them.
At that point you can make an informed decision about whether you receive chiropractic care or not. You owe it to yourself. Your life is too important not to check out chiropractic. Don't delay one more minute. Give us a call.
