Low-Income Families Face Ongoing Recession Risks


Low-income families of color were among the hardest hit during both the Great Recession and the pandemic recession, facing sharp rises in unemployment, poverty, and housing insecurity. While swift policy action during the pandemic softened some of the long-term impacts seen after the Great Recession, these families — especially those with children — remain disproportionately vulnerable to economic instability in future downturns.
