SFEPD Supports Youth Financial Education at

Jackson State University Summer Camp

SFEPD Founder and President Ted Daniels was honored to speak at Jackson State University’s 2026 Financial Wellness Center Summer Camp, a collaborative initiative powered by Jackson State University’s College of Business, Wells Fargo, and SFEPD.



The camp welcomed middle school students from across the Jackson, MS, metro area for an engaging three-day experience focused on building financial literacy. Participants explored key topics such as money and banking, budgeting, saving, credit, debt, and investing, equipping them with valuable tools to navigate their financial futures with confidence.

Student Loan Changes

Millions of federal student loan borrowers enrolled in the SAVE (Saving on a Valuable Education) repayment plan are facing significant changes on July 1, 2026, as the program is being phased out following court challenges and policy changes. Borrowers who were previously benefiting from reduced monthly payments and other SAVE plan features may need to transition to new repayment options, including the revised Income-Based Repayment (IBR) plan or the new Repayment Assistance Plan (RAP). Financial experts encourage borrowers to review their options carefully and take action to avoid payment disruptions as repayment requirements evolve.

SFEPD encourages borrowers to stay informed, review their student loan repayment plans, and seek guidance to ensure they select the option that best fits their financial situation.
