SFEPD Student Ambassadors

November was another impactful month for our SFEPD Student Ambassadors, who continue to champion financial literacy across their campuses and local communities. They are hosting workshops and leading peer discussions, organizing campus events, and engaging students through boothing and tabling activities. Our ambassadors are empowering fellow students with the knowledge and skills to make smart money decisions. Here’s a look at some of their inspiring activities this month!

Smart Planning Moves for Your 30s & 40s

As many people enter their 30s and 40s, often a time of major life changes like marriage, home-buying, parenthood or career growth, it’s crucial to revisit their financial plan. A recent article in ThinkAdvisor outlines six key planning actions to help this group balance current needs with long-term financial success.

  • Establish a realistic spending and savings plan that supports today’s lifestyle without compromising future goals.
  • Prioritize building an emergency fund and reducing high-interest debt to build a financial foundation.
  • Maximize retirement plan contributions (especially employer-matched 401(k)s) to take advantage of compound growth.
  • Review and update insurance, estate-planning, and other protective measures as family and financial responsibilities evolve.
  • Set (or re-set) both short- and long-term financial goals — from homeownership or education savings to retirement or wealth accumulation.
  • Reassess risk tolerance and investment strategies periodically to reflect changing priorities and life stages.

These steps echo the mission of our SFEPD programs — equipping individuals with financial tools to build wealth responsibly, plan for the future, and make informed decisions at every life stage.

SFEPD Financial Educators

SFEPD Financial Educators are continuing to spread our mission to enhance financial literacy and to promote the professional development of individuals and communities through our Mind Over Money Skills presentations at universities and colleges.

November included multiple presentations at Howard University, including one featuring our SFEPD Student Ambassadors, followed by a fireside-chat with SFEPD Founder and President Ted Daniels and Shelley Kee, Vice President of Human Resources and Administration at the American Public Transportation Association.

Email us today at info@sfepd.org to schedule a presentation on your campus.

Jump$tart National Educators Conference

SFEPD was proud to attend the 16th Annual Jump$tart National Educator Conference in Boston on November 7–9, 2025, joining teachers, sponsors, and leaders in financial education from across the country. It was inspiring to connect with passionate educators and leaders who are empowering students with essential financial knowledge. We were able to network, share materials, and highlight our mission with more than 300 classroom teachers from across the nation.
