SFIC Resources For All Who Bear Public Witness With Nonviolent, Faithful Engagement
View as Webpage
People of faith have been at the forefront of movements for justice and peace, and drawn on their traditions for wisdom and strength. At this crucial moment, communities and congregations are speaking out for justice and humanity for all people, including our immigrant family members.
Unfortunately, under the guise of border enforcement, and despite a promise to prioritize the removal of violent criminals, we are seeing law-abiding multi-status families detained and traumatized by federal authorities. We are moved to call for a humane approach to immigration, for the sanctity of our sacred spaces, our homes and schools.
In addition to providing ethical and spiritual resources, the San Francisco Interfaith Council recognizes the value of practical guidance for public witness. To foster nonviolent, faithful engagement, we share these resources with the religious communities of our City.
Faith leaders are encouraged to share them with members of their communities, to denounce violence, and to call upon all who choose to protest to do so peacefully and safely.
