AISC Fabricated Steel
Trade Case Update
|
|
The U.S. Department of Commerce has found evidence that China, Canada, and Mexico have been dumping fabricated structural steel into the U.S. market.
On Friday, January 24, the U.S. Department of Commerce
issued a press release
announcing its findings on AISC’s trade case involving unfairly traded fabricated structural steel from China, Canada, and Mexico. The ruling is in response to petitions that AISC filed back in February of 2019.
Commerce issued affirmative final determinations in both the antidumping duty (AD) and countervailing duty (CVD) investigations of imports of fabricated structural steel (FSS) from China and Mexico, and an affirmative final determination in the AD investigation of FSS from Canada.
|
|
The ITC is currently scheduled to make its final injury determinations on or about March 9, 2020. In conjunction with today’s decision by Commerce, if the ITC makes affirmative final injury determinations, Commerce will issue AD and CVD orders which will remain in effect for at least 5 years.
If the ITC makes negative final determinations of injury, the investigations will be terminated, and no orders will be issued.
If you have any questions about today’s announcement, please reach out to Brian Raff, AISC’s Director of Communications and Public Affairs at
