Ms. Cordeiro's preschool class welcomed Captain Stephanie Sylvia this week.  She came to thank them in person for a care package they sent with the help of Emma's dad, Mr. Jacintho, a U.S. Marine who visited the class in the Fall.  He and his wife shipped the package to the 936th Forward Surgical Team in Afghanistan where Captain Stephanie (who is from Dartmouth, MA) is an anesthesiologist.  She presented the school this week with a very special flag and a certificate stating that it was flown at their tactical base in Afghanistan on 22nd of January 2016 in honor of St. Francis Xavier School on behalf of the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces serving our nation.

God bless our military personnel!

The school has been a very busy place, as our teachers plan end of year assessments, and our students count down the days!  It is not over yet, however, as we have much left to accomplish before we break for summer!

Our NJHS had a very big week, facilitating an "All United Day" on Monday, that included teaching lessons and completing service activities with each of the classes!  On Wednesday evening, seventeen new members were inducted into the NJHS... Congratulations!

A very 'Fun Friday', has set the stage for a spectacular weekend!  Students were thrilled to come to school today sporting their school spirit wear, and that excitement was further intensified by a visit from the Bishop Stang Jazz Band as well as a "sneak peek" of this weekend's Musical Spectacular!  It will be a full house tonight as we become witnesses to the hard work and dedication of Mrs. Plante, many parent volunteers, and of course, our SUPERSTAR STUDENTS!!

Next week brings more end of year fun including field trips for Grades 1, 4, 5 & 7., as well as less formal walks across the street to Pope Park and Acushnet Creamery.  Fine Arts Night is next Wednesday the 25th and attendance is mandatory for Kindergarten through Grade 5.

As always, stay well informed by frequenting our school website, and teacher web pages!

Have a wo nderful weekend and God bless!
~ Mrs. Russo
