Much evidence of LOVE could be found this week at school! We began with a late start on Monday, after LOVING our long, snowy
weekend! The LOVE continued to grow, as many classes exchanged cards and treats on Tuesday, in honor of St. Valentine. At dismissal time on Valentines Day, a line of preschoolers were asked (by myself), "Did you eat a lot of candy today?" Without a second thought, a resounding, "YES!" echoed through the hallway! LOVE!
Students have not been too fond, however, about the indoor recesses and getting back into the swing of the workload. Our middle school students have successfully completed their midterm examinations, creating a sense of relief and accomplishment. All classes had a productive week, in anticipation of the vacation that will be a break from the normal academic routine.
Upon our return from break, we will embark upon our Lenten journey together as a school family. Opportunities for prayer, fasting and almsgiving will be evident and available, as we plan many opportunities to fully experience this Lenten season. We will begin our Lenten observance on Tuesday the 28th of February at 1pm, as we launch Lent with a "Close the Door on the Alleluia" assembly. During the Lenten season, the celebratory "Alleluia" has been traditionally "buried", to be resurrected once again during the Easter season. This year's school theme has moved us to use the DOOR analogy for the temporary removal of the Alleluia.
Finally, I wanted to take a moment to sincerely thank you all for your commitment to St. Francis Xavier School. We strive daily to provide your children with a strong Catholic education, that includes a very solid academic experience. Due to the ease of the reregistration process, and a successful Open House, we are very close to full capacity for the 2017- 2018 school year. Thank you for your continued support of our school!
I wish all of our school families a restful, rejuvenating, fun, refreshing, meaningful, and wonderful winter break.
God bless and see you all upon our return!
