This past week was filled with many proud principal moments, as second graders crowned Our Blessed Mother, our middle school students demonstrated excellence at our annual History Fair, our new members were inducted to into our National Junior Honor Society and excellent behavior was reported from our field trip expeditions. Thank you, parents, for your presence, and participation in these end of year, very memorable experiences for our students.
While the warmer weather was a welcome change, it also had its share of challenges! The fast turn to summer created some overheating, headaches and nausea for our students! Please make certain that your child is coming to school each day with an adequate water bottle and sunscreen that has been applied at home. The warm up has also brought a few ticks to the grass area in the back of the school, so also be vigilant about checking your children each evening.
The end is definitely in sight, and we do our best to keep students actively engaged in the learning process right to the bitter end! Please support our efforts by making certain that our students remain focused and do not summer early by "checking out" of academics. While standardized testing has been finalized, many of our students will be asked to demonstrate mastery of grade level concepts through the administration of end of year assessments. Please keep encouraging your child(ren) to persevere and have a good, strong finish to the 2016-2017 school year!
Also at this time of year, the natural changes take place with faculty members who will not be returning for the following school year. This year, Mrs. McKenna in Preschool 4 has decided to enter into her well-deserved retirement years! Mrs. Laurie Plante has also decided that her time here at St. Francis has come to a bittersweet conclusion. Please keep both of these teachers in your prayers and thank them for their dedication to our school and the love they have shared with our children. We wish them well on their future endeavors.
Please be advised of any outstanding financial obligations as the end of the school year approaches! It is essential for us to successfully close the books on this year's budget before the new fiscal year begins on July 1st. All payments of any kind (tuition, extended, family fundraising, etc.) can be submitted to Beth in the front office. This is especially important for our 8th grade, preschool and kindergarten families as the graduations and celebrations are right around the corner!
Have a wonderful weekend and God bless ~
Mrs. Russo
